Bought mine used with 21k on the clock

2003 Evo VIII

Brakes peeling

That is about it other than the wear items. The crazy thing is whatever clutch my car came with is still going, no slipping, etc after 30 2 step launches.

2006 Evo MR currently has 13,900 miles. Shifts smooth, clutch holding up (daily driver not daily racer) -

6k Boost gauge off by .25 bar - Dealer replaced cluster - Looked like they put a used part on my car. Boost gauge fogs up on humid mornings.

6k Driver Side floor mat seam came loose - Dealer ordered 4 new ones, replaced driver side and sent the other 3 back with the bad one.. go figure.

8K SEL P0300 Dealer cleared code, was such a pain to take it in I tried to fix it myself the next time. Light came back on a few weeks later. Spent the next 2K miles scratching my head trying to figure out what it was. Replaced plugs, wires, swapped coiils, etc.. oh yea cleaned injectors myself with lucas problem went from daily to weekly.

12.5K SEL P0300 and P0303 Dealer cleaned injectors, charged me 119.00 - ridiculous. Light back on 2 weeks later Oh yea, scratch on my hood while it was being serviced. I dont trust their body shop anymore than I trust their service dept. There's a few rock chips that are not theirs in the hood. Eventually will repaint it as long as the car becomes mechanically sound.

13K SEL P0303 Dealer finally replaced injectors. Hoping the problem is gone.

If problem returns I'll seek a buyback and try and get another IX. Hoping the issue is fixed because that sounds like more hassle and I'm a busy guy with little time for bs.

Who else has a squeaky Recaro? I can't be the only one

Besides that, and an increasingly rattly interior (don't really care about it), the car is perfect (@ 25k miles).

You might can fix your squeaky Recarro. Is it the springs on the bottom squeaking? if so there are some plastic dampeners and you might try moving them a little to see if the squeaking stops. Not sure if mine still squeaks cause it really squeaks when my exhaust is on the car at around 3500rpm. And the exhaust is not on the car right now.

While getting tuned, Evo Scan showed that the IDCs were at 107 to 110%. **** you not.
No cams, only the mods listed below. The tuner tried his best to bring down the IDCs as much as possible by pulling boost and timing at some points in the power band, hense bit low numbers. We could have gone for more.

Nothing major, just annoying stuff. The plastic cover on the steering wheel column rattles like a B!tch. The side pannel where the seat belts are rattles like crazy as well and my brembo are peeling. That's it.

Just curious, if the 6spd tranny suffers from heat, how come no tunner made a tranny cooler kit for it?

Knocking noise when A/C is on sometimes. I also have the issue with the squeeky plastic column piece.

2003 Evo VIII w/38000 mi. Only mod is an intake system that came with the car...not sure if tuned or not.

Spoiler UV burnt and clear coat peeling
Calipers peeling, not just clear but paint as well
slight ticking noise that sounds like a valve tick
Transfer case grinding and starting to whine
Engine often stalls with A/C unit on
Driveshaft makes loud banging noise when shifting (must be loose or u-joints bad)
Slight engine miss but not enough to trigger sensor
Rattling steering column cover (extremely annoying)
Brakes scream (not squeak) at any speed unless stopping on a dime
Wheel vibrations between 75-80 mph
Tranny shifts extremely hard...not sure if clutch was upgraded

I think that is about it.

All of this has happened in the last couple months and when I bought it none of this was going on. I bought the extended warranty but I think the dealer screwed me on that since Mitsu isn't even going to replace the wing and calipers due to peeling. Don't know what I need to do but I can't afford to fix everything on this car. Might just trade it off for something else. Don't need a money pit for a car...thats what the girlfriend is for...j/k...lol.

If you guys have any advice as to what I could do about any of this please feel free to let me know. Thanks.

I concur. It sounds like it's time for a new one. Trade it in for an IX.

Bottom seem on MOMO steering wheel split open. Replaced under factory warranty. Common issue that's been discussed before on the board..
