just buy whatever you want.
Life is just too fast.

btw If you not really into fast car, just get the g35.
It is way more luxury, and for me, evo is not that nice to drive If you not get on gas and corner.

Honestly, a lot of parents who have enough money like to spending the money on their kids and don't mind investing in an asset that is going to depreciate rapidly. You only live so long and many like sharing what they have with those they love. If you have gained the trust of your parents go for the evo, just don't go out and prove them wrong

this is very true and many parents do feel this way. but as said, if you have earnt this trust, find a way to repay it.

Warning: I wrote this post after writing a 5 page essay for Social Structure, so... as you can see, it is quite long. If you really don't give a crap here, don't read it.

You people are honestly saying this: If I handed you the keys to a Ferrari, you would say, "no thanks, I'd rather earn it" You do know that right.

As for the young people who can't type, please go back to high school or stop playing WoW all the time... It makes the rest of us literate ones look bad.

And yes, I agree, young people are stupid, and since I haven't met you I have to agree with a lot of the "haters." But also realize that I am 20 and got the car when I was 18, before which I had an S2000 when I turned 16... The S2000 was my dad's but I drove it 90% of the time and the Evo was a (gasp) graduation present. Yes, I was handed both cars on golden platters. No, I didn't lose the concept of resposibility but instead of living out of a dumpy apartment I am staying at home and my girlfriend and I are saving up to buy a house (instead of throwing money away on a car payment). But I was also taught to drive safe around town and I did autocross since about a week after getting my license. I've been tracking and auto-xing ever since then and I'm yet to come across some "old guy" who doesn't think I'm in my late 20s because of my maturity and level of driving skill.

What really comes into play here is maturity more than age (since age is not a causal variable). Picture this scenerio in your head: An STi, Corvette, and SRT-4 all pull up next to you at a stop light, all 3 drivers look at you, nod their heads, rev their engines... What do you do? (Assume you got the correct mature answer here) After being frustrated by many attempts to get you to race the usual way the cars begin cutting you off and slowing down in order to try to get you to pass them at high speeds to get rid of them. What do you do? You're driving down an empty canyon now, you know it is completly void of all activity (for whatever reason) and it is fairly snowy. You have decent tires on and are driving down the canyon. Do you rally around, or do you keep it in a low gear an maintain a steady slow speed? Now, the last Evo owner question: you have 200 dollars sitting around in your pocket doing absolutly nothing. Do you take the car to a track day, mod it, or put some sick-azz 19 dubs on it and buy that new body kit so that the hommies will wanna go for a ride? (The correct answer is track day, as much as we all are addicted to modding, becoming a better driver is a far more valuable mod than anything else).

And as far as the college campus safety goes, I don't know what colleges you guys go to but they have constant security patrols in mine, there's actually 4 other Evos and at least 5 STis that all go to the college (and those are the lower level cars) there's a few M3s M5s and high-end Audis as well, and the list goes on. And no, it isn't some ivy league school. It's just the University of Utah, nothin special.

In closing: I tried (and luckily won) talking my friend out of buying an Evo and he's 3 years older than me. But, he's also the type who tries to drift in his Jeep in an empty Albertson's parking lot. If you're like my friend, go for the G35 '07 Sedan (or the new model coupe when it comes out) the old G35 sucks IMO but the new one is wonderful. 300 hp, automatic "slowdown" with traffic on cruise control, navigation, 4 doors, awd, much much better suspension than the old set up. If you're still hooked on the old G35 buy a 350z or S2000 instead, there's too many "ricer-homeboy" crossovers driving pimped out G35s trying to race everyone in a grandma luxury car as is. I understand the need and love for cars, and if you're currently unsatified with the Integra, don't hesitate to move up, especially with the chance you have now.

I'm 20, am I too young to be buying a house with a 19-year-old girl? Or is it a great investment? (Yes, we can afford it, or will be able to once I graduate this May from college... Am I too young to graduate? ) Too young? No such thing. Not prepared? Definitly what the concern should be here. What do you guys think of say... The Love Sack guy (if you don't know him, well, he's a young kid who won a contest and started a company that is now in bankruptcy), as far as I know he has at least 1 Maserati and 1 Ferrari (since he lives here in Utah, last I checked). Is he too young? Or since he "earned" the money is it okay? Or any of the young actors and actresses who have 30 cars and are barely 16-20? Are they too young, or did they earn it enough for you? What about the Google guys? Sure, they're in their early 30s, but they're on Fortune's list of the richest people and I'm sure they drive at least one really fancy car... Are they too young? Are any of the famous race car drivers' sons/daughters who are under 16 too young to be starting in the Formula 3000 series to train for the F1 series? Or even starting in Skip Barber's series in the Formula Fords? Too young to be behind the wheel of at least a hundred thousand dollar vehicle that is purely for track purposes? And they definitly did not earn their money... Are they too young?

No, they're all just fine, you're (and admittedly me) just jealous. If you really thought about it, most of them (mainly exluding some of the hollywood boys and girls) are perfectly mature enough, the F3000 kids usually did karts since they were old enough (some as young as 4 and 5).

And, anyone who read this post I made after writing a 5 page essay is either A) looking for something to bash me or the whole idea in general B) really bored at work/school/etc or C) really interested in the topic at hand, and thus will have something decent to contribute as well, rather than "dude, im yng and allz you olda guyz suxors" and "Young kids are stupid, way to raise my insurance" (which, everyone thus far has spelled incorrectly).

Now for you, between the Evo and G, get the G. Reasons: the evo is only good at one thing and that's going fast. It rides stiff, has a crappy interior, cheap *** radio, lots of road noise, a big ricey wing that attracts cops, the most expensive car to insure (I would guess $300 a month for you), shiet gas mileage, and expensive as hell for replacement parts.

Stock for stock, the G isn't much slower in a straight line, no turbo lag, obviously a nicer ride for daily driving (stereo, interior, etc), probably cheaper insurance, ~ same gas mileage, less attention grabbing from the cops. etc.

I intend to spoil my Kids but also treat them responsibilities.

Remember Guys it's these young punks of today that will decide if we are going to be in some retirement home in Abeline or Bowie Texas versus South of France or Switzerland somewhere.

But for me my Kids get Scions, Civics, etc they can get the Evos when they settle in there career. Also it is my intention to place a house downpayment for all my children to give them a start.

UT_evo, how very smart of you to endow us with your intelligent writing although like alot of academic literature, its makes many points but no real point.

can you tell me exactly what you were trying to say in a smaller sentence so us normal folk can understand?

Okay, now that I just took the test, I should be able to shorten that...

Um, basically, it isn't a matter of age on who should get the car, it is a matter of maturity. While it is true that generally younger people are less mature, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are. And the second half is that I think he deserves to get a new car because his has the desire and ability to do so. It is really up to him what he gets, and I don't think he should base his decision on a bunch of meandering comments on a forum where age really isn't an issue until it is brought up. (Really, I have no idea how old any of you are unless you say how old you are.) If the post was just "What should I get, an Evo or a G35?" without any of the extra story, what would your answers be? (That all pretty much sums up what I was saying, ah, if only academic literature could all be summarized like that)

Now for a little extra credit...
Saying a young person will crash a car, street race, or do any other stupid thing is like saying a black person or mexican will rob you, instead of being racist you are being agist by forming irrational stereotypes. It's like if we younger people said that people over 30 don't know how to have fun anymore (my dad, and his s2000, are full proof this is not true). Or like saying people over 50 should only drive cadillacs and buicks. One of the coolest racers I've met was a 72-year-old who bought a brand new zo6, broke it in, and took it to a track event as soon as he could, and he certainly wasn't a bad driver either. What's funny is how the stereotypes work in the car world: A girl driving a hot sports car is regarded as wonderful, because, the general assumption is that girls don't drive hot sports cars. Interesting that instead of saying "you shouldn't buy an Evo, you're a girl" we all say, "whoa, roxors a chick with an Evo, can I have your number?"

UT_Evo, second response was much easier to understand. many of us here are not tertiary educated and as fluent in verbal linguistics.

i know where you are coming from with your argument and it is valid, as social norms and stereotypes are at play here.

having said this, it does also seem like the question is being asked because the author is genuinely not sure about the decision and even these forums dont always breed the most intelligent responses, i think the collective consciousness of folk here percieves a real issue with the whole question to begin with.
