Stock bottom end rev limit??!
I know this might have been covered in a recent thread so sorry if it was... BUT...what is a SAFE and i did say SAFE....limit to go to with the stock bottom end? I had some reflashing done with the usual mods.......the flash set up the ecu to spike at 23 hold at 21-22psi ......to me it seems like it keeps pulling hard but im leary of throwing the tach up past 7600 even though the flash put my limit up to 8000(which i think is probably useless with the usual mods). You know kind of like how all the threads are in regards to "my clutch went at 3000miles" not taking to fact that there were some 5-6000rpm launches with the "stock clutch" Its like well what did you expect??!! Just trying to prevent some catastrophic failure thats all.

bottom end is stout and can be revved out all depends on how much power is being made and at what rpm.
The weak point is the valvetrain without upgrading springs & retainers that is the weak spot possible floating valves.
Now saying all this I consistently rev mine while racing out to a 8k shift with my rev limit at 8200k still stock valvetrain and bottom end and puttin down 420whp
But next upgrade is the buschur racing dual valvesprings and titanium retainer setup and his BF272 cams

It may still pull at that high of RPM's but the truth of the matter is your piston speed starts to run away from the flame, not a lot but a little. The evo IX have one less pistion ring than the 8's allowing for quicker revs but there is a down side to that, It makes it a bit weaker too. just be safe, be nice to your engine and shift at 7600 rpm (according to math is the best shift point for our bore and stroke) It will pay off in the end!!
