DONT BUY ANY PARTS YET! It would definiatally be in your best interest to break the car in for the first 600-1000 miles. You should leave it stock during this time and drive like an old lady. Use this time to save your money then when the car is all broke in get full 3inch exhauste, high flow cat, Cone filter that bolts onto the MAF and ecu flash by a good tuner. If you have any extra money after that get a wideband, boost and oil pressure guage.
The stock evo 9 bov is good untill you start doing bigger mods. The cone filter will give you plenty of turbo noise to listen to while your driving around also.

if you really want to hear the Psssh sound of the bov, get an intake, but you have to do a reflash after installing it or your car will lose a bit of it's performance..
with $600 we usually go for an Exhaust as first mods

buy a loud bov and alot of stickers, hmm also get some neon lights so you can put under your car, then save up for some money and get 20" rims, i would prefer chrome but it's up to you. save the exhaust and boost controller for last.

I'd leave it stock until you know the car isn't going to be a lemon. If you want an intake, I suggest this http://www.amsperformance.com/store/...roducts_id=170. Easy to install, lets you hear the BOV do it's thing and lets the car take in what it needs. YOU DO NOT NEED A REFLASH FOR IT! Next I would get this http://lancershop.com/customer/produ...&cat=43&page=1 It has a built in boost gauge so when you do start upgrading to a boost controller and such, you'll have your gauge and a turbo timer to let your vehicle idle down whenever you get somewhere without you having to sit there and wait. (Don't forget to get the harness for the evo.. $20 or so) Next...get some tint. Save the rest of $600 so when you're broken in, you can get an exhaust and a tune. Please sift through the forums and don't just take 1 persons word for anything. I wouldn't do any major mods until you can afford a 2nd vehicle to get you around because the more abuse you put your car through, the more likely it will break down. My MR has 5500 miles and I just put a catback, manual boost controller, Blitz dual turbo timer, the intake I mentioned above and a custom moderate tune. The car runs great and I can put it back to stock (except the exhaust) within an hour.
Good luck with your puchase.

Okay man... I made the mistake of selling the Stock BOV and buyin a SSQV. WOW what a big mistake, now im kickin my self in the ***. trust me, keep the stock one, you wont run into problems like me, like BOV opeining up at 4,000 RPM range which I have to down shift and then gun it for it to work right. It sucks, I mean SUCKS HUGE MONKEY B***S!! Not worth all the trouble. So keep the stock BOV

dont bother with a turbo timer either. after you have broken the car in properly, get yourself a tubo back exhaust, manual boost controller, and a tune. if you must have a intake get a buschur cone filter and make sure you are tuned for it.
edit: you need a tune for all cone filters or you will have drivability issues and no real power increase. the only intake you dont have to have a tune for is a k&n or works drop in filter
