bov questions

wow so i feel such like a noob and a ricer, but ive been curious about what my forge rs bov would sound in vta.. wanted to know if anyone has the forge rs and has it to vta and if our MAF can handle it without it sputtering? i have the forge rs which routes back to the intake, and wanted to know if i do need the "kit" to make it vta.. or if i could just remove the pipe that routes it back to the intake and just plug up the hole on the intake?

First thing you want to do is search. there have been literally hundreds of topics about VTA BOV's.

However, I will answer your question. 95% of the time if you VTA you will have problems with stalling, sputters, and running extremely rich. Some people don't have issues (At least that they can tell) and good for them. If you want to try it, go for it, however there are inherent risks to your car. (Fuel mileage, Stalling, Etc.)

If you really want to screw up your car then I guess you can just take the BOV off the intake hose and cap the Inlet on the intake.

Have at it....... But don't post: "My car is all screwed up now and I don't know what's wrong".

your car will not run rich all the time, just the .3 seconds it takes you to shift. its not that big of a deal

Jdav79, please tell me how you a vta bov will decrease gas milage? the car is still getting the same amount of fuel, its just not getting the air its accounting for when its dumping in the fuel....hence why it runs rich in between shifts.

all my buddies with bov on their evos have NEVER had a problem with stalling out, sputtering or this crazy decreased gas milage thought

Well EVO JOE here is a link to someone that had worse gas mileage by VTA. look at #6 https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=271671........

All your "Buddies" may just not know what to look for when it comes to VTA BOV issues. They probably just don't "Notice" the problem....

Do a search of the boards and you will finds VTA problems all over the place. The only time to VTA is if you have a stand alone ECU.

ok one person says he got better gas mileage, thats not proving anything. all my buddies are very knowledgeable when it comes to evos. they would notice something like that.

you cant say all vta bov's are bad for your car when theres so many types. also, it could be because they are running the wrong stiffness spring for their set-up. theres so many different things that could cause these problems you talk about. all i know is it doesnt happen to everyone

I am not going to argue with you, however the actual car tuners out there all say to keep it Re-circulated unless you are running speed density. I wonder why that is? hmmmmm I bet your friend have all built performance shops from the ground up, huh. I would take their word on it over the actual tuners any day! (Sarcasm)
