Time for a tuneup? I can't imagine why else. How's the car running? Does it idle OK? Are you just bad at driving manual tranny? We need more info.

It idles ok for awhile meaning the compressor would trip on and off a few time then it would completly shut off.i am maybe wondering if it is the knock sensor.the car is automatic by the way.let me know if you need more info.keep in mind this mostly happens when the a/c is on.iv'e notice it the only time it shuts off without the a/c running is when the car is hasn't warmed up yet.

Any modifications?

Have you pulled the codes? There most likely will be codes even if the MIL isn't on.

When it is running is the idle smooth or does it wander?

It idles smooth at 500 rpms then it shuts down. the only mod i have is a maf adpter with filter but even before it put it on it was doing the same thing.

Why do you think the knock sensor? Are you getting knock CELs? I've never heard of a bad knock sensor stalling the motor...

Me either it's just that was told that from a few mechanics but I guess i will just have to put the car on a diagnostic machine to find out the problem.

First thing I would do is pull the codes. Then go from there.

i think i know what he is talking about... my car had (sometimes still has) the same problem. it happens after driving usually, when you come to a stop the engine drops down below 800 rpm then fluctuates between like maybe 300 to 800 (feels like its going to stall) and twice for me even shut off.
i thought it seemed electrical, like maybe a bad ground possibly starting at the battery ( i noticed that my battery ground was loose). i then replaced the connector to the terminal with a new one (old one was broken) and it stopped doing it. it still does it slightly on hot days when i run the a/c, but never to the point where it shuts off.
another theory: it might have something to do with the maf sensor.
