you're fine. the IX have higher RPM at same speed comparing to evo 8 due ti gear ratio. at 80mph on the IX you should be like 3600-3700rpm. also there's noway you're 3500rpm at 75mph and jump to 4000rpm at 80mph.

That sounds about right. I'm at 3000 -3200 @ 75 so with a 5 spd you should be closer to 3500-3600 around 75.

Same here. I know the car was designed this way, but it still makes me shy away from the thought of taking any long road trips. Should I be worrying?

I just came off the road doing those speeds on a highway with my IX SE. And I think those numbers are about right in 5th gear, except when i was on the throttle it went up to around 4k-4.5k but cruising speed if you are not hitting it hard was around 3k for me. These cars eat a lot of gas WOT

your in the right ballpark.. i wouldnt worry about it since redline is at 7k you are plenty enough revs away from pushing the motor too hard.. if your redline was 5.5k then i would say cruising at 4k might be pushing it a little much, but thats not the case.

i also agree its just the gearing in our cars. i use to think the same way but if you down shift you will notice that 4th gears rpms are not that far from fifths.

I dnt know.. I've riden in stock IX MR on the autobahn and he buried the needle... think he was doing more like 168mph.. very scary.. **** begins to whistle alot.. isn't there a governor in these things.. thought the only reason why i go past 160 is cuz It got modified during my tune..??
