So Ready for this Car! My Introduction.
Would just like to introduce my self to the club!
Been saving up and hopefully will be ready to get my evo in a couple months. Hopefully just in time to take advangtage of the new X dropping and getting a better price on the IX. I mean is it just me or does the IX just look meaner? lol, don't get me wrong I know the X is going to be sweet, but I just feel that mitsu is softening up the looks for the public (you know to appeal to a wider audience.) and thats not why I fell in love with the evo. I mean yeah, the interior is nicer...i don't think anyone will disagree there, but who buys an evo to do anything more than drive when your behind that wheel. I just know that those payments will be worth it when I have a car that I trully love to drive.
Is it just me, but I mean don't get me wrong, I've always respected american muscle. ( I hate in forums where its the "ricers vs american muscle? wtf we all just love fast cars?? go get laid. and stop arguing on the internet) Anyways, there are some great american muscle cars out there and I've never really disrespected them. But the reason I love the evo so much is just it's finess. I mean hell guys, anyone can dump a super charger on a v8 and have a fast car, but to take a 4 banger and turn into the vicious machine that the evo is, is just an awesome story. It's like 300, or any david vs goliath story (the four banger that held it's ground against the big bad v8 and o god don't get me started on that one video on you tube against the lambo.... FQ400 anyone?) and I think thats why we all love this car so much. Hell I even love the fact that 80% of my friends are all trying to talk me out of getting one but the ones who know cars, just "understand" my decision ;p Im just stoaked about getting one, i've been reading all of you guy's stories on here and it just makes me sick that I don't have one yet, but mark my words, it's going to happen!
The only thing im some what scared of is that I pay for everything my self, rent, school, insurance, everything, and im only 20. The evo is going to be my only car and I make pretty good money but im just worried about it being my daily driver. I mean I don't plan on doggin it at all (it WILL be my baby) but from reading some of the post's on here I can't say im not a little worried on the maintainance dept., I don't think there's anything anyone can say to stop me from getting this car, but can anyone give me some relief on how this car will be for me as a dd. I plan on getting an 05/06 with less than 32k and im putting 7 - 8k down. I pull in about $2500-$3200 a month and im a full time student. getting over my head? would love to hear you guys thoughts/opinion. and once again, great to be apart of this great community of people who love the evo.

Yeah, I mean my rent is only $400 but theres electric, cable, intenet ect. I have bright futures, don't plan on losing that. and the company i work for pays full tuition reimbursement after a year, so i think i can make this happen.

Looking @ the whole picture, I would say your barely gonna make it with the Evo. I would say your payments are gonna be $450 + $750(rent?) + $200-$300 (insurance) + $200 (gas) = $1600-$1700. Living expenses + Utilities + Others. You could save a whole bunch of money since your a college student. Be smart and invest because what if you lose your job and so forth. Have money for rainy days and such. Just my .02.

thanks for the comment vortech, and yeah the rational side of me thinks the same way, but I have been thinking about this for a long time, realistically of my disposable income my bills are only about 45% ...now i live on campus and the next 3-4 years my mileage will be low, i only do about 125$ in gas /per month and you say $450? im pretty sure i can get $325 a month solid for the payments, about $200 insurance. heh you only live life once you know, and ive been waiting for this damn car since 2003! ;p I hate sensible people like you ...lol always make me second guess, but I do appreciate the comment!

lol so true vortech, america was built on bad buying/credit decisions tho! ;p if everyone was level headed our economy would suck! ;p that and after driving a 98 ford contour for 6 months...the evo kinda is like my savior! ;p

Think it over, The price of the car is one thing, maintaining it is another ( for instance don't buy brembo rotors when you need brakes). Seeing that you take in close to 3000 a month you should be fine! My car is a DD, about 60 miles a day. I just put the advans back on for the summer and the ride did get a bit harsher. I absolutely love driving the evo everyday, perfect street warrior and it is rugged. Buy one and don't look back ( or you'll see all the cars you smoked)

yo welcome to your new home. Just be carefull. Sometime my favorite possesion can be become a large burden. Dont forget the price to maintain is really A LOT more then I ever imangined. 60 dollar oil changes. 200 $ brake pads. Hell new advance will set ya back 1500 bucks. Insurance will be no less then 200. After I did all my mods Im only getting around 14 mpg! I work full time and I cut it pretty close making about 5 k a month. However I do have a 1500 mortgage payment. I also didnt put any money down so I have a 700 dollar a month payment. Best of luck to you. Remember youre still young and after you schoolin you can get pretty much whatever you want.

thx for the comments, I do plan on keeping it pretty much stock, the most being a stage 1 kit, from buschur for ex. I want it to be as dependable as possible. I know its going to be hard some months, but for some reason...i just believe everytime i get behind the driver seat it will be all worth it. no?
