Hard to turn when braking

Had this problem today. Driving down the road going about 60 mph. I brake pretty hard to do a 90 degree angle turn. When i was turning it seems like the power steering just died. It felt like the steering wheel got stuck and was harder to turn than usual. Also i've also noticed that when turning back and forth really fast it's hard at times. Anybody else have this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Silly question but, have you checked your steering fluid?

Yeah, checked the fluids. Do you think it could be warped rotors?

I have somewhat the same issue with the steering wheel, when ever going over a bump, like those lane divider bumps that make the different lanes on the highways, the steering wheel seems to lock up and not want to turn. Havent had any issues with brakes though

Yes, my powersteering fluid was a little low. Tire pressure on the front would sometimes be lower on one side more than the other. After adding a little fluid and checking my tire pressure more often the steering responsiveness has gotten better.
I usually keep my tire pressure a pound over stock as my tires are wearing and it seems to help.

it sounds like some thing is binding.

pull off the tires and check for any foreign objects which can be stuck up under the car.

this is the first step. after checking fluid.

I also have worked on cars which have had similar problems.

i have seen the shaft/joint which connects the steering wheel to the rack go bad.
i have never heard of this problem on an evo

hope this helps.

if you still have a warrenty bring it to the dealer.

My car has the same problem; sometimes when driving the car pulls left or right with no aparent reason and its hard to control and feels really odd (like if for a moment one of the calipers where not working).

I think that has to do something with the tires. Mine does that too. But it's because of too much miles on the tires without rotating them.

this is my first post and I will admit I don't have a lot of evo knowledge yet but here is my $.02. with my old audi the brakes were power assisted not from vacum but from the power steering pump. when I would hit corners hard(hard braking and pulling the wheel) the pump sometimes couldn't keep up with the larger pressure demand of both brakes and steering at once. so the pump might be weak from age and use or just weak in general. try this again except brake second to see if the brake pedal gets stiff..?lol careful.

not suppose to be on the brake when you turn..brake hard then put your foot off the brake then throttle steer around the corner...
