This is something that I wish the Evo did have. I'm sure that I'll purchase one of these in the future, but right now it's all about performance.

I just ordered the rostra cruise control.... The cheapest way i found to buy it is pieceparts from ebay... saved ~$20 over lancershop which was the cheapest package price i could find.

Just be careful of adding all shipping charges from separate ebay auctions and see how you can do...

The Following are the parts needed for the "Standard" install. The only real option is if you want to get an wireless switch or dashmount wired switch vs the column mount stalk. There is no plug and play wireless switch to clip on the evo steering wheel however.

250-1223- electric CC solenoid kit
250-3742- column mounted stalk switch
250-4206 - clutch pedal switch

Other switch options:

the clutch switch is not needed.

If you set the unit to "manual" rather than auto, it realizes the clutch is depressed (engine might rev 200 rpms up, then cuts out).

Reading online, you are right about the clutch switch, I haven't actually installed the kit, so you'd know better than I about actual operation.

Since the Lancershop kit includes the clutch switch, and it is an extra safety measure, i figured it was worth another $18 just to have it.

I found the original manufacturer copy of the installation manual.... It's much clearer than the other link.
http://www.rostra.com/pdf/Form4565D.pdf

I was looking at pages 21 and 22 to figure out a custom switch. It looks like the switch can be replaced with 3 momentary switches. I'm trying to figure out where in the car i can mount these to make activation and adjustment convenient.

I've had cruise on my '03 of several years now and I don't know how I got along without it.

I went to a local shop and bought some parts so I can't even tell you who the maker of my cruise system is. However, I did do the install and it was pretty much a brainless project; wiring the brake switch being the hardest part. I also had some problem figuring out how to attach the pull cable to the throttle bellcrank. So, I attached it to the throttle cable.

There was no auto/manual switch on my unit but without a clutch switch my system only revs a couple of hundred rpms as mentioned above.

In conclusion, I prefer the after market cruise on my Evo to the factory cruise on my WRX.

This looks like a good idea. I think I'm going to get one, too. Might save me from getting a ticket!
