The SE is the best Evo, in my opinion. You don't really need the 6th gear the MR offers. I did test drive the MR SE before I bought my car, and it was frickin sweet! Not my bag though, baby.

i actually had no choice... haha! I totalled my 350z in march... and there was ONE brand new Black IX SE at a local dealer that had sat in the showroom forever... so i bought it. Dont regret it at all!!... and im super glad it was this one! I love black and didnt even know they had an SE model until i went to go look at it! which was a BONUS!

the SE was my first choice but it was getting hard to find one in graphite gray. I ended up getting the MR w appearance package instead. In the end I'm glad I got the MR because the cruiser 6th gear is nice and the bilsteins didnt' beat me up on rough roads. Was it worth the 3K diff? No. I do think the SE is a great choice over the GSR though and I think it's the sweet spot in the evo line. Get one while you still can!

Do the SE and the MR headlight both have that blackish chrome bezel on the inside of the headlight?

I'm in the same boat. After being disgusted with the Subaru dealer and the deal he was offering me on an 07 STI, I went to the Mitsubishi dealer where they had two EVO's left. An MR and an SE. Right up until then I didn't know that an SE package existed, but I checked it out and liked it right away. Then after I drove it I knew that was the car for me. IMO the SE is the best compromise between the trim lines

To answer bsander, I think all EVO IX's had the smoked lenses, since nobody liked the altezza look of the VIII lenses.

the wheels alone on the street go for 1500 with tires

HID's an an aluminum roof aren't useful enough for you? What about the SE lip that everyone seems to love?

There is a little bit more than some red thread that makes up the SE.

I think HID are in all evo except RS model, roof is also in MR & RS
so the famus lip-
yeah we could discuss how it really creates downforce per mitsu but to be honest its not noticealbe.
so If i put a grafics in the same shape or a kit bump i would get the same or better look. its a nice touch dont get me wrong
but wouldnt u rather have wide fenders and some 18's on a SPECAIL EDITION??

i HAVE seen base models with HId- does this mean it was an option? i guess someone could of added it...
but i still think a extra wide body and 18" would be a slammin SE option i would pay whatever for...
