I don't understand this, if he's complaining about having to replace wear items, how is he going to fair when the STI needs new brakes or a new clutch? Is he going to trade that in for an SRT-4? If he's whining about a performance car having a performance level of maintenance, maybe he should consider a civic.

No I am not saying he is complaining about maintenance... he just happened to hit rough times when in need of them but is longer in rough times. He just is reconsidering his EVO, to go to an STi.

Your friend's sti blew up because he was a moron about modding it. not because its a crap car. and the VF43 is a bigger turbo then ours.

He is considering a used STi and getting rid of his EVO. I was wondering if anyone has done this, or come FROM an STi... it would be good to hear exactly why you made the move you made. This car is going to be his only and he is interest in the most durable, managable for daily driving but does not want to sacrafice the performance part. I would like to bring a productive thread on this topic to him to help him out so he doesn't do something he will regret.

tell your friend hes dumb!! thats all i have to say, he has a evo and to downgrade to a sti is pitafull !!!!! might as well tell him to get a 4door honda accord

Same can be said of evo guys with their clutches, diffs, transfer cases, etc. It's all in how you treat the car. I don't think the switch is worth it IMO, especially for this guy, since neither car is superior over the other.

i owned a sti and it was a fun car but it didn't meet the needs i wanted it to. its hard to make power without spending alot when it comes to subarus. but aside from the 07's if you leave them relatively stock (tbe & intake with a cobb ap) then they will be reliable.

just my .02
Wow you are completely wrong. The VF43 is basically the same turbo as the VF39 besides different wastegate to help combat boost creep issues STI's are plagued for. The turbo itself is even smaller than the smallest evo turbo. Stick it next to a IX turbo and its tiny.

Car discussion is far different from that of life my friend. I didn't make it into PSU because of my grades either. I have plenty of military credentials as well as the required GPA, will and plenty of recommendations from people that know me very well including high ranking officers, doctors and dentists as well as instructors.
