Question How to import an EVO to the states?

Where do I start if I want to import an EVO V to Cali? Has anyone here imported one to the US? Or more specifically to Cali? Are there importers? Prices? What would you do about emissions?

It'll be pretty hard to find an EVO V to import because it's not new. Why don't you wait till Dec. and get a U.S. EVO VII? it'll give you way less headaches, be LHD, will cost you less $, and will be brand spankin new. What could be better?

Someone posted way back a yellow evo V with Cali plates. I think the plates were customized, it read "Evo V".

I'm glad someone else did it. I think digital racer owns it.

No it doesnt belong to digital racer ive talked to the guys there and they said it was some guys who brough it to one of there track days that they held.. and you can get an EVO imported for racing use ONLY unless you find a registerd importing company.. but if you have one imported for racing use they strip out all the interior and the Radio and climate control. Etc. and you have to pay for the car and the shipping cost and customs duties. and some other stuff and its not street legal so you have to find some way to get it legal....

Hey jigga, how'd you get yours?
It's true that the VII would be MUCh less hassle but with all this talk I hear about how "tamed down" the USDM VII will/might be it made me wonder about getting a V.
But I guess it's sorta a moot point anyways since the US VII could probably be modded to get it up to j-spec standards, right? That is if it's more tame for us stoopid 'mericans.

The aftermarket's going to eat the EVO VII up like a 20oz. porterhouse. The Scooby WRX has been out for almost a year in the states and there's already almost as many aftermarket parts for it than there are for the H cars. There's no point in spending the money on a J-spec EVO, when you can wait and build a *****-out better then J-spec EVO with aftermarket parts. I wanted an EVO VI GSR a while back and was willing to sell one of my kidneys for it. But then I heard about the EVO VII being released in the U.S. and it instantly changed my mind. I still like the style of the VI, but for the money I'll save I can buy a body kit if I wanted.

Besides, I might need that kidney later on

Do you guys think the USDM VII's will have the same engines (mechanically) as the j-specs?

I hope so! It would suck if in order to bring it up to JDM you had to import an engine. I'm thinking smaller intercoolder, restricted airflow, etc. Hopefully no suspension or appearance modifications.
