MR Gas Mileage

MR Gas Mileage
Hey all,
I've been contemplating a purchase of a 2006 MR with low miles. I'm still doing research and I've read the conglomeration of EVO gas mileage threads including the giant one of like 20 pages that was merged. The average seems to be 200-250 miles to a tank. I'm just curious though is this going to be the same for MR's and their 6-speed trannies? The posters in most of the threads never really specified MR vs. standard EVO. I also saw something in one of the threads about the 6spd not giving as good of gas mileage as the 5spd but no one ever elaborated. Any help would be appreciated.

the MR averages 1mpg less than the 5spd, the same as what the sticker said.
Here's the latest EPA ratings. 5spd 6spd
the new ratings are exactly in line with my mpg.
one trick to getting good highway economy - is driving slow. 65 seems to be the best for me. otherwise 300 miles on a tank is just a pipe dream.

The MR's 6-speed has shorter gearing, so 1st through 5th will likely burn more fuel as you'll be at a higher RPM than the 5-speed. While cruising in 6th you'll see better mileage than the 5-speed as long as you aren't in a hilly area that causes you to hit boost often.

I appreciate the replies. I was hoping the MR would be higher by 1-2 mpg but that probably depends on the type of driving done. Most of my driving would be highway 65-75 mph.

I'm getting roughly 17mpg in the city...Which according to that EPA link, is pretty decent...
Damn you guys getting 300miles per tank ....how do you do it?
/me puts on his tin foil cap =P

Maybe I need a retune but I did a test last week on my MR and I am NO WHERE NEAR 300 miles per tank! I hit the trip odometer at full tank and when the gas light came on I was at like 240 mi. I stayed off boost the entire time. Driving a little crazy and staying on boost a lot netted me 26 miles less per tank and it was a lot more fun! I do usually roll at about 70-75 on the highway though. Maybe I should drop down to 60?
