I'm going to hate myself for this...
SEs - MR and GSR - only came in silver, grey, and black. No white, red, etc. The bumper is not wider; they're all the same. The airdamn isn't related to the braking system; the (brake) cooling ducts are. This thread is unbelievable, which doesn't say much about me, as I was actually dumb enough to post a cogent remark.

yea i have never heard of a white or red SE...unless someone swapped the seats and rims and added the lip.

Rare or not is not the point. SEs were not available in any colors other than black, silver, and grey. The bumpers were not different, as you also claimed, nor was anything that was posted correct. This is all common knowledge, except (apparently) for this thread.

Wait a second...
Don't get upset, but I waited about a year to get my 9 MR SE...And I kept track of what several dealerships around me had in stock and what they recieved from shipment. The last of the 9's were the SE's as we know. There were 3 color options on the GSR SE's which were silver, grey, and black. Then, all of a sudden, Mitsu busted out with an all-new tarmac black MR SE. Tarmac black was the only color on the IX MR Special Edition package. The only way it could of been a different color is if your dealersip personally customized or changed the color. That's my take.

You don't even need to look past post #8. I can't believe this is being debated.

MR vs. MR SE
Regular MR(six speed)=silver, grey, red, and maybe white.?.
MR SE ](six speed, special edition)=black only.
SE GSR(5 speed, special edition)=silver, grey, black
Regular GSR (5 speed)=white, black, silver, blue, and maybe red.?.
RS (5 speed)=red and white.
You may correct me if I am mistaken. Thanks.

It would have been nice if you included a link:

Most likely, someone changed seats and wheels on the car and called it a SE. There may be another explanation, but one thing we can all be sure of is that it wasn't manufactured that way, as the SEs only came in black, silver, and grey. If you have a white MR that was sold to you as a SE, you may want to have a chat with the car's previous owner. You didn't buy it new, right?
Here is the official press release:
Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) is applying the "Special Edition"; treatment to its critically acclaimed ninth-generation Lancer Evolution. The 2006 Lancer Evolution SE offers special features at a competitive price of $33,249 MSRP to make this legendary performance vehicle even more thrilling. The new SE trim level represents the final enhancement to a Lancer Evolution body style that has been on sale in the U.S. market since 2003.
Inside the Special Edition trim level, supportive, red-stitched RECARO(R) seats accentuate the interior while the exterior receives a new front airdam extension that adds style while reducing front end lift. A lightweight aluminum roof panel, also found on the Lancer Evolution RS and MR, helps control body roll by lowering the vehicle's center of gravity. The feather weight 17"; forged BBS(R) alloy wheels, now in a new "Diamond Black"; finish, add style while reducing unsprung weight to improve suspension performance. The SE trim level also includes high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights with halogen fog lamps giving the vehicle a distinctive look. The available exterior color choices for the Lancer Evolution SE are Apex Silver, Graphite Gray and Tarmac Black.
True to the Lancer Evolution's heritage, the SE is powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder DOHC intercooled-turbocharged engine with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and Electronic Control (MIVEC) that is mated to a rugged 5-speed transmission.
The revised airdam, Recaro(R) seats with red stitching, and forged BBS(R) wheels with "Diamond Black"; finish are available on the MR trim level as well in the form of an Appearance Package which sells for $500.00.
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) is responsible for all manufacturing, finance, sales, marketing, research and development operations of the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in the United States. Mitsubishi Motors sells coupes, convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles through a network of approximately 540 dealers. MR is more performance from factory
SE is an apperance package. more show from factory. MR has everything and alot more then an SE. What makes an SE an SE is the SE LIP. and the SE LOGO. and the red stiched recaros. thats about it.
But then again u can try to find an MR SE.

That is just a stupid thing to say, read about the actual differences. A SE is an MR minus the 6 speed and Bilsteins and better looking to a lot of people. There are pluses and minus to whoever you talk to about each, but your statement was pointless.
