As a current IX SE owner..I say SE (of course Reason being..
-NO 6spd to kill your legs and arms from shifting
-Beautiful interior with the suede and carbon
-BBS forged rims are irreplaceable
-Light wight body panels are prime for anything
-and no annyoying mr badges or sonic hedge hog back

I looked at MR's for a while and came upon my SE on accident. No big difference but if I were offered any MR today I wouldnt take it, My SE is just too damn beautiful!

Thank you for your honest response! Definitely all things I will be looking at when I go shopping. Hopefully more owners will chime in with good responses!

your post makes no sense at all. there's no more shifting required with the 6 speed than the 5 speed.

the suede and fake carbon interior is standard on ALL 9 models including the RS, IX, MR, and SE.

The BBS forged rims are available on the SE AND the MR, and they aren't THAT great. the paint doesn't hold up, they are heavy for a forged rim in that size, and they are a pain to keep clean.

The light weight body panels are the same on EVERY model. Every model except the regular IX has the aluminum roof, and they all have aluminum fenders, door beams, and hood.

The annoying "sonic the hedgehog back" is there for wind tunnel tested aerodynamic benefits, and the SE's just got annoying SE badges to replace the MR badges.

Try to give this guy some actual benefits, and not uniformed BS next time.

Please don't take advice from this guy. He's obviously a noob and doesn't know what he's talkin about.

Plus it's not suede. It's Alcantara.

Oh..good to know. Thanks for the corrections! I was also looking around and it seems like the MRs (at least in my area) are easier to come by...were there more MRs made than anything else?

I'm actually debating on whether to go with a SE or MR myself. I'm leaning towards the MR more, since I have no intention of modding the car and would like to keep it as close to stock as possible. I also checked out a few SE, and couldn't really feel much differences between driving the MR and the SE. The 5-speed was a bit more notchy though, but it could be the weather or the fluid they have in the car.

honestly, if i took a gsr and put an mr front air dam, an mr center shifter console, mr seats, vortex generator, and slam the car down.. with some mr badges, mr bbs wheels would you tell the difference...... honestly i would just do it on purpose to show people that their the same car, no difference other than tranni....

Ive asked AMS and English racing about the differences all they tell me is that 6spd is the week link... and they recommend a 5spd swap

The only external difference between a MR and any other CT9A Evolution of the same generation is a VG, which was available as an option on all Evos, the gray BBS wheels, and the badge. There's no such thing as a MR front air damn, but there was a zero lift kit (again, option on all models), just as there were no MR seats. The ride height is the same, and slamming an Evo only results in very poor handling. As has been said ad nauseum, the difference between a MR and any other Evolution is the transmission (and its associated bits) and the suspension that most used MRs no longer have.

SE!!!

...its all preference I went SE because I wanted the 5 speed ,many times stated is stronger than a 6 speed transmission. and I didn't care for the bilstein suspension of the mr since I was going to go aftermarket adjustable coilovers. It took me awhile to find a mint SE model. But I'm glad and waited to get a SE model.

I got the MR because I wanted Wicked White, HID, Bilsteins, Vortex, Gauges, etc.. I did get rid of the 6 speed for the 5 speed so now I have everything I need

Love all the trim levels... Just love the fact that you have an evo. I don't drag my car nor do I have any interest in having a 500 hp evo. So, the MR and it's supposed weak tranny suits me just fine. These cars are a blast to drive with basic bolt-ons and a conservative tune imo. In a couple years I will get something else that goes really fast and has a lot of hp.... Keeping my evo of course.
