How to tell if your clutch is aftermarket
I have a evo 9 MR that was completely stock when I bought it with 46,000 miles except a few minor cosmetic things...
I sat in a friends 9 MR the other day and pressed his stock clutch in and it felt very easy and loose compared to mine afterwards, he also only had 25,000 miles on it but has launched it a few times correctly at the track.
I am trying to figure out where the boot is that I might be able to pull off under the hood to see the clutch label..

I dont think you can see it from on top. Im pretty sure that you can take off the inspection plate under the car though. If you jack it up, where the starter is, there is a thin metal plate that you can take off and see into the bell housing.
If its alot stiffer/heavier than your friends, there is a good chance of it being an ACT clutch.

yea on the bottom theres a rubber plug you can pull off...
i beleive if its still grey metal color it can either be stock or an exedy type clutch...
if its yellow it would be ACT...
if its blue its probably a no name f1 racing clutch
let us know..

so I have to jack it up to see the rubber plug?
at lights if I am keeping the clutch in about to go it is pretty stiff but at the same time it is a heavy spring back, meaning that it doesnt release right away and it also doesn't catch till around 60% back which may be normal..
ive had a handful of evo drivers feel it and say it was aftermarket but a couple told me they thought it was stock
also when I press it in, while in neutral I can hear the spring? is that normal for stock?
