Sleeper ???
#16
I think you can make it a sleeper. You will never be able to tell what kind of power an Evo has just by looking at the exterior. Given that most people that buy a Evo will do a new exhaust, and most likely new wheels. But nothing major unless you want to get put in the "rice evo" thread on here.
The only exterior indication of what the car has is by looking in the glory hole on the hood.

I think people who know anything about racing know the Evo when they see it. Ask any normal mustang/vette driver what an Evo is and they will probably look at you cross-eyed with that dull gleam all Tangers have.

I had a bright red RS. Almost no one noticed the car. I'd sit next to cops and they'd never take a second look. When I had the wing off my SE, I experienced the same thing. Contrary to what some may think, very few folks can identify an Evo without its wing, and that applies to automotive enthusiasts, as well. Ask me how I know.

I agree that your basic EVO is no sleeper, right out of the box it is pretty flashy and has good power. Hyundai Sonata with 4G63, now that sounds like a sleeper.
To me a sleeper has always been a car that you might see grandma driving, but that is hiding something powerful under the hood. I always think of. I feel like hub caps are almost a requirement for a good sleeper.
A de-winged Evo with stock wheels to me is just a clean EVO.
But that's just my two cents.

Put some quieter exhaust on it and you've got one hell of a sleeper.
