depends on what your looking to get outa your car. for me, when i bought mine, the IX was not worth the extra (4-5 i think) thousand bucks. obviously the 9 is a proven better car, but for me the difference was not worth the money. if you can afford it get the 9, if not, get the 8 and you still get a great car. and with the extra cash start modding!

I bought my IX almost 2 months ago and it depends on how much you are trying to spend but now I have seen plenty of IXs that are fairly well priced as compared to buying an VIII. It took me 3 months to find my IX and I was pretty **** and wanted one as closed to virgin as possible with low miles. I think you do have a good change of finding an VIII thats clean and has low miles if you take your time but if you are fine with either car I say just keep your eye for both depending on how good a deal you get on either, as its gonna be on a case to case basis depending on the car's history and condition.

IX is better because you don't need cams to get to 300whp. So if your only plan is to mod up to bolt ons the IX will give you more hp compared to the VIII as you will not need to install cams.

Essentially yes. MIVEC = more power. Everything else is essentially the same from the 2005 Evo VIII. Different bumper and interior, etc. But nothing else mechanically different that I can think of.
Earlier Evo VIIIs, there's more different. no ACD, no 10.5 hot side turbo, and no LSD front differential being the biggest differences. I'm sure I've missed some things..

Both the VIII and the IX have the basic core of what an Evo is about. The IX is just a more updated version and has some small tweaks that yield slightly better looks & performance. I believe the VIII was around from '03-05.....And then the IX was around from '06-'07 (correct me if I'm mistaken). i would get the IX since that's just my preference. All the best with your decision!!

You can always get an 8 and slap on a 9 front end and maybe save on auto insurance. I believe it wasn't mention the 9 got a bigger turbo. In this economy I'm very positive you can get a good deal on a 9.
