Unless Ralliart UK did some extra work on the UKDM GT, most likely it is just a rumor.

In Japan, GT is basically an RS with GSR interior and carries identical transmission. It is almost identical to USDM GSR, as it lacks AYC and 6 speed, but has ABS, 14gal tank (instead of RS's 12.5gal tank) and A/C unlike the JDM RS.

If you're going to strip the car and replace the wheels, brakes, seats and so on, then the JDM RS would be the way to go as you'd throw away the least, but imo between USDM trims, the differences are minimal; major difference between the trim are wing, roof and ABS between RS and GSR, and transmission, roof, wheels and visual stuff between GSR and MR. Between JDM RS and GSR was a big difference though:

- ABS (or lack of)
- AYC (or lack of)
- A/C (or lack of)
- Transmission (for evo 8 and 9)
- Seats
- Sound system (or lack of)
- Gas tank size
- HID (for evo 8, 9)
- Rear wiper
- Even more interior pieces (trim panels, rear headrest, sun visors, pedals, etc etc)
- Wing, suspension, wheels, brakes, tires, intercooler spray can be optioned to match the GSR's on RS
- GSR's turbo can be optioned to match the RS's (the controversial magnesium-titanium one)
- GSR has option for sunroof, better sound system and leather seats (like the USDM SSL package but already include HID) only the sunroof version came with steel roof, GSR had aluminum roof in Japan since evo 8.5 (VIII MR)

To sum it up, 200lbs lighter weight track ready vs well value built street performer with AYC, ABS, extra gear as well as comfort features.

You can opt to be in the middle by getting a GT, or an RS with the wheel, brakes, suspension, tires option. Well, this is only if you're living in Japan.

For USDM, most prefer GSR, and I would too. I believe SE GSR came with aluminum roof. So I recommend SE GSR the most.
