Buying an Evo X.. opinions?
Hey guys, i'll soon buy a 09 EVO X..
I'm from Bahrain, in the middle east.... here in the gulf we get 2 types of the evo x:
a) equivalent to the GSR in the states with 5speed manual + enkei rims
b) equivalent to the MR in the states with BBS, SST dual clutch, bilstein suspension, but no tv screen/navi
my Qs are:
- how reliable is the new SST transmission? how is it for daily driving?
- how moddable is the Evo X MR? Can the tranny hold the power? I dont want to do something serious but an exhaust/bov/intake/tune would be nice
- which is faster? MR or GSR?
- which has better handling? the normal suspension GSR or the bilstein MR?
- i've read about overheating sst trannies on the track.. how true is this?
- don't you think the evos need a drop? it looks ridicuolousy high.

Problems with overheating in road race situations, etc but good for DD
- how moddable is the Evo X MR? Can the tranny hold the power? I dont want to do something serious but an exhaust/bov/intake/tune would be nice
You will be fine with those mods
- which is faster? MR or GSR?
Depends on mods
- which has better handling? the normal suspension GSR or the bilstein MR?
bilstein MR
- i've read about overheating sst trannies on the track.. how true is this?
True statement, but can be fixed with a tranny cooler.
- don't you think the evos need a drop? it looks ridicuolousy high.
Yes.
