4G63's are much cheaper to upgrade (simpler, older).
As all have said, you'll be plenty fine with an 8K redline. Lots and lots here up to 8k with no problems. I redlined my evo at track time and time again with not even a hiccup.

I agree with many on the stock turbo doesn't need to go all the way to 8k , maybe if you were racing and just needed the extra rpms to avoid shifting them ya i would take it to 8 but other than that theres not really power up there stock turbo wise. Now meth and cams would be a different story.

when i was in 4th gear at 7600rpm on my 8 i would be around 120+. Idk exactly but it was def past 120 by a little. So if you need the extra rev to pull another car then use it on a road course of course. The 5th gear always kills the momentum of the evo so i always use the extra gearing i have to keep ahead.
