I have a 9 and I DD the car ~35 miles/day round trip to work. I fill up every 6-7 days. In the winter I got 18-20mpg, and right now I'm getting up to 25mpg. I don't have a lead foot with this car since I'm in traffic a lot of the time. Not bumper to bumper but just slow 40-50 mph busy traffic and I just chill since the highway I take it littered with cops.
Fill ups are about $30/week and will only go up once the gas prices go back up. It's not too bad though. It sort of sucks since my old 03' Sunfire was a 30-34mpg car on 87, so gas is about 50% more a year now. Oil change is about $35 if you do it yourself. I went to Walmart for the first time in like 5 years and saw they have 5 quarts 10-30 Mobil 1 (1 oil change + a little extra) for $22. I was buying 4 quarts at Advanced Auto parts for $27, so there's a hugh savings.
Brakes, tires, ect will be on any car and shouldn't really be a factor but you should be able save $75-$100/month or so for that stuff. I did the 30K service myself + $70 dealer coolant flush. Total cost was about $200 after all the fluids, but I have enough left over for my next serice. 60K will be really expensive since I don't know how to do timing belt/water pump, so I'm going to budget $1200 as a worst worst case scenario but that's ~2.5 years away.

though self-done oil changes are a lot cheaper than 50 (wtf oil are you guys using? Does the X take more than 5 qts of oil? Or is the filter expensive? 20$ for oil, less than 10 for the filter, if I do it myself. It's about 50 for SUBARU to do it, and that's with full synthetic.)

I used Royal Purple oil and filter, so I just used whatever filter that the book chained to the stand said to use >.>
But the OEM filter is part# MZ690116
