About to by an MR. Need imanent response
Wicked white
Car is an 06 IX MR
It has 12,500 miles on it.
has 9k sound system
hks hi power
k&n intake
guy wants 26,500
I told him to install a centerforce fx300 clutch because he told me stock clutch is done after 15k no matter who is driving it.
he will buy the clutch and install it for 27k grand package.
Should i do it?

If it needs a new clutch, it is because he has been launching it or he has no idea how to drive stick. Mine has over 15k with a "few" track days and is perfect. 06 IX MR
If you are going to buy it, you should find out how much the clutch + install at a reputable local shop will cost and get him to take it off the price. I would not let him do the install unless he is a tech at a shop that works on Evos, especially since he is BSing you on how every Evo needs a clutch at 15k.
BTW you should also get it inspected by a reputable shop, since you already are getting lied to about the clutch

This is the car. He just wanted to tell me that it is a common thing for clutches to go around 15-20k. He isnt saying it will, he just wants to let me know in case it starts slipping in 5k. So he offered to install the clutch at his cost and cheap labor vs prolly over 1k to have it done in Iowa where I am.

It sounds like a good deal, but keep in mind that it seems like the guy may have beat on the car a little - it sounds like he's trying to get you ready for the clutch to go early, which it shouldn't unless its been abused.

he said its not slipping or even hinting of slipping. He just doesnt want me to feel bad if it for some reason did start slipping a few thousand miles down the road. He said any kind of power additives really wears on the clutch. He has a 600hp shop evo, and he used to own a black evo 8. So I know he knows how to own an awd car. This car was going to be his cherry. It has 8k sound system in it, and its clean as hell.

I have 30,000 miles on my Evo IX. The car has been methanol fed with 400awhp & 430 awtrq since 16,000 miles. I just pulled apart the clutch, and it's in perfect shape.
It's all in how you drive the car. Never Launched.
I'd be careful buying a car from a guy that says a clutch can't last more then 15,000 miles ... Drivetrain pieces get expensive

im sitting right at 24000 miles with about 20 launches or so on the stock clutch with 5 or so autox under my belt with it and to my knowledge the clutch is holding up just fine. i would be worried about what hell the car went through if he thinks the clutch is going to be gone in 15000 miles

yeah 12k miles and the clutch is gone. Kind of sketchy. I'd tell him to put a stocker in or a exedy stock replacement so if you do buy the car and soemthing does goe wrong ou can go in with it for warantee.
