You absolutely have to do the 60K service. Believe me do your services on time and you will have a good car down the road. As I was reading this post someone had mention that some part could go past 120k and that is true but is it worth it. In most case the timing belt dont break, its the balance shaft belt that breaks and or the tensioner dont hold as it should making the belt skip timing. In many cars it is not always recommended to change the tensioner since the tensioner cost more than everything else needed to do the job. In my opinion you should change everything that has to be change such as all the tensioner, idlers and belts with water pump. Do it once and do it right. Now it does not have to be right at 60k it could be a little later just not like another 60k.

Good Luck.
Mike.

Be careful especially with the 60k tuneup because they do it for a reason so that nothing major will break and cause more problems that will cost you way more money. I agree with everyone that the timing belt needs to be looked at but not necessarily changed I mean if it looks in good shape then you can go for a few thousand miles before looking at it again. Hope the situation gets better

Remove the timing cover and inspect your belt for any frays or cracks on the belts. Inspect for any signs of leaks or other damage or worn parts such as pulleys, etc. If all looks good you should be ok to wait a bit until u get the funds to do your 60k. My .02
