Tuning down an Evo

Tuning down an Evo
Hey guys,
New here and I am on the path of owning an Evo 8 or 9.
Now I have some problems.
Problem 1- I am just about to get my license so there are restrictions for the first four years (probationary period/P plates) this is practised in Australia and it is annoying as hell. It means you cannot drive a high performance vehicle on that period which means, Turbo, supercharged, V8, V10 etc cannot mod the engine from air filter to exhaust either.
NOW. I was thinking because the evo has turbo from factory, either tuning the turbo down so much it doesnt make any boost at all, now I have no idea what this will cause in terms of problems, if it is possible at all?
Or removing the turbo, how hard would that be?
Bearing in mind when I get off this probationary time I will be modding the evo so I dont really want to remove the turbo...? Ideas please I really want to get an evo but I also want it to be legal...
If it's not possible then slap me.
Thanks for reading

You could turn the car to run wastegate pressure which is 11psi, but tuning down an Evo is a really stupid idea.
You're better off just not getting an Evo yet. Buy one when you legally can.

If it is that much trouble, I would simply wait until the probation period is over then get the EVO. There's no point in having an EVO if you don't have the parts/performance of an EVO.

Not sure I have any solutions unfortunately. Now I have no idea how the laws work in your country but I assume they have some sort of database which has a list of cars your not allowed to drive. An evo would most likely be on that list so therefore even if you removed the turbo(which is a lot more involved than just unbolting it btw) I still feel like the car would be illegal...

For the 4 yrs your on this probation period I would get a normal cheap car and safe up for when you can buy it. Them when the time comes youll be ready to mod it to your liking and not need to worry about saving for performance parts. Your not going to get any joy driving a detuned Evo. Just my .02$

how do they regualte what your driving? if you buy it used from someone else how is this permission stage gonna no that your driving a high performance vehicle just dont get pulled over

Def just get a naturally aspirated car with light weight, and drive it for four years. The EVO being detuned wouldn't be an EVO at all. It'd just be a heavy car at that point.
Why not get a Impreza? You'd get the AWD, the strong motor, and wouldn't have to worry about the turbo and retuning it.

SLAP!!!
There is now such thing as a no turbo Evo. If you want to get into a Lancer, then get a regular Lancer and deal with "Mitsu quality".
I personally would highly suggest getting a Honda Civic with VTEC of some sort. Since it's a Honda, you won't find many problems with the motor quality but rather, driver/owner problems. I wouldn't suggest buying a swapped as you might run into problems. Sure, they might be faster but who knows what the previous owner did during the swap and if he did it right. I remember my cousin took his motor out and found out one of his mounts wasn't on all the way tight to the chassis.
Now, for the licence thing. Since you'll be a newbie to driving, I HIGHLY suggest not grabbing an Evo. These cars are fast and you could end up dead within the first week. I remember a story last month that someone went 100mph in his mom's Camery V6 then the tires popped and flipped the car a couple times. No one in the car was wearing seat belts so they were thrown out of the car. He also just got his licence the day before the accident. No one survived the crash. Please PLEASE don't be those high school kids that absolutely love to reckless drive all over the street. I've seen way too many that cut off ppl and road rage and it just makes me angry when I find out they are only 16 years old.

mate if you want an AWD car without a turbo, go purchase an subaru RX. there is a reason why the australian government made new laws against new drivers driving high powered vehicles like because they get wrapped around a tree. an evo without a turbo is called a lancer although it may lack AWD. unless you want your license revoked, purchase a cheap car until you learn how to drive in all condition. and dont reply back saying u already know how to drive.
