Cold air doesnt fit on auto, because the transmission is in the way. Thats why they make short rams.

Well, the RMR short ram uses the stock cold air intake guide and I think I remember one of the lesser brands of intakes (like WeaponR or something) making one that just went to the side of the engine compartment behind the bettery or something. The only real CAIs go through where the auto transmission is though.

I have the Injen CAI on my Auto Lancer. Just takes a little work to get it in. Im probably gonna give it to my girlfriend to put on her Lancer since I turbo. My friend has the Weapon-R CAI for the Auto Lancer. All it really is, is a SRI with a tube that routes the air to it. somewhat like J'sLancerLS. But just neater looking.

I had shoved in the Injen CAI myself in my auto lancer. But after time, the transmission produced so much heat that it ate right through the piping, so i had to remove it and put the filter on the end of the MAF.

Are the off-brand intakes the same as off-brand cerals? All the same flavors at a different price and under different names?

when ever you buy something for your car there will be some cases where you get what you pay for... and IMO an intake would be one of them

For intakes what you want to look at is the bends and the type of filter used. A lot of brands are the same thing so just use other testimony to help you decide. No use wasting money on something that's the same thing as a cheaper item.
