Launching the EVO on the 1320... proper launching technique?
Hi guys I'm a technician at Honda, however I work with a former Mitsubishi tech. He knows that I'm in the market for an EVO, so I asked him what's good with the tranny's having issues. He told me that most of the time the transfer case isn't broken in properly and that the car is launched way to aggressive and power shifted. I really see no need to powershift a turbo car, but hey some of you may be guilty of it. Oh and not to mention the infamous break boosting. So how do you launch your EVO?

Have car at standstill wherever you want to launch or if at a strip your at the first staging lights. Slowly release clutch until the car barely starts to move, at the same time hit your launch limiter, by now you hit the second stage lights with your clutch barely engaged and your launch controller building boost, pull up the e-brake and tell your passengers to hold on tight. As soon as light turns green or you want to launch just hammer the gas pedal and take your foot off the clutch as fast as possible.
Once you hit your launch limit with the clutch slipping you don't want to wait too long. That's why I sort of gave reference to a drag strip. You should hit your limiter as the yellows hit giving you about 2 seconds tops until you launch.
I slip the clutch to start with as that takes away any drivetrain shock. Therefore I just launch as hard as possible. Have probably launch 20 times like this and it is the best way IMHO to launch. No drivetrain shock and one damn hard launch if you are running a two step.
