Question CAI vs drop in? Turboback?

a friend informed me that a cold air intake on my 8 (stock) would decrease horsepower compared to a K&N drop in, whats better?

also im planning on buying a turbo back exhaust in the near future, i was deciding possibly on a turbo xs exhaust system. any recomendations?

Get a intake kit made for the car there are many out there that prove power I have seen the STM evo intake kit make 13 hp with out altering anything and looks great. As for a TBE i would recommend the Buschur Bullet turbo back makes awesome power, sounds great, price is good, its not ricey looking and best of all its light. Good luck

Plenty of nice intakes available for the Evo and anyone who claims a drop-in makes more power is very uneducated. Also, CAI is a Honda term and not applicable for the majority of Evo intakes on the market. Perrin makes my favorite intake system (dyno proven to gain more whp than any other air filter) and actually one of my favorite catbacks too since it fits perfectly, looks nice, and has a great tone w/o being too loud. Search around though, you'll find plenty of info on good intake and exhaust systems for these cars on this board.

This graph is the result of our intake vs. a K AND N drop in. It clearly picks up power on a mostly stock car and I would expect even bigger gains with more mods.

Here is a pic of it.

Our kit can be found on our site here.

i have the turbo xs rfl titanium turbo-back and i love it. it's very clean and deep sounding. it's quiet while driving around town but gets a loud grunt when you want it to. very few bends and pretty light weight. also fits very well in the bumper outlet.

Here, do some reading on air filters while we're on the topic:
