i found a really good deal on 08 gts that was involved in light accident and title is stated as irreparable. With that in mind, it will be used as off-road car. As you know gts trim is worthless for serous autocross, and thats when evo conversion comes to mind...


My question is regarding drivetrain and engine swap

Is there a possibility that I can fit a complete drivetrain and engine from salvaged evo x? If so, im waiting for evo x to pop out on insurance auction. Have anybody done this yet?

08 Gts shell will cost me only $1500, so dont tell me to jump on $27k evo

 

in short no, wont work

while the front bumper fenders, hood and doors will bolt on the rear is entierly different.

You'd be able to use the engine but not the drivetrain. You'd need the drivetrain from a ralliart for it to work..

Unless your a mechanic and butt loads of experience you will be over your head.

cost wise you could of bought a evo x for the same price if not less used.

nuff said.

 

It would Probably be more worthwhile to buy a salvaged Evo and fix it up, the price of mating the X to the Gts would most likely amount to a lot more.

 

How much money, time, and effort do you want to devote to this?

As turbotime mentioned, you'd need to gank parts from a Ralliart more than an Evo; the motor will "Fit", but everything else drivetrain wise will need to come from a Ralliart.

Not saying it can't be done, but asking "can it be done" is hard to answer without knowing your personal limits. Hell, buy a WRX shell and drop a 4b11 into it, probably won't be any more of a challenge and costly endeavor.

 

you see gts is priced at $1500... I understand that fenders and rear arches are wider, thats not a problem. I will have this figured out, im a bodyguy, anyway.

I just really dont want to pass on this great 08 GTSdeal if evo x drivetrain, suspension, brakes, engine will drop it


work, money wise... just sold my 94 mkiv single, so I know what it takes to mess with such a things

no the evo drivetrain will not fit in the gts. period. rear suspension mounting points ect. all diffrent.. diffrent chassis ect..

 

yep drive terrain your screwed, id look for the much harder to find salvaged Ralliart, and use that. the only thing you can use from the evo is the motor.

but since the RA uses the IXs driveterain, is the one is the RA modified to fit the RA? or is it a direct port. i would think it has been modified. if not you could use an IX

but if you found a salvaged X and wanted to put the GTS shell on it, being a body guy you could get it to work.
