STI Owner thinking about changing sides
What's up guys.
Current 2006 STI owner thinking about getting into a Evo9 or EvoX. I'm located in Long Island, NY, so if anyone happens to see me and my STI around (for the remaining time i own it), say whatsup.
As for my current car. its built. overdone for a street car IMO, which is one of the main reasons i think its time to move on. Fully built motor, Twinscroll 35r, Custom FMIC, Custom Fuel system, Full Suspension, and I built it to fly as low under the radar as an STI would possibly allow.
As for what im looking to get into. A white or GG Evo 9 GSR, something very stock with decently low milage (Under 20k), or a white or blue Evo X. Also used, but wont buy it with more then 10k miles. As for transmission? Does anyone have any suggestions. I drove the 5 speed and loved it. But what does everyone think of the MR or Touring? I have not driven one yet so I am not quite sure how i will like it. If it matters, the car is NOT my dd. So that is not a deciding factor.
What are the differences in what the transmissions and TF Cases will hold in terms of power.
Just trying to read up and learn as much as i can before i make the jump over to an Evo.
Here are some pics of the STI to hold you guys over until then.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really do love the STI. It is just passed the point of no return as far as I'm concerned.
The EJ257 motor is nice, but when it comes to reliability, it is nothing compared to the 4g63, or from what im seeing, even the 4b11. I just hate having 20+k into a car, and still feeling like SOMETHING is going to break. I'm not a drag racer, the car sees the occasional road course, but mainly its a street car. And the functionality and drivability is just not there anymore.
As for what i like about the evo.
The evo9 is a great looking car, and the x is just down right sexy. Especially wingless.
They fit a nice aggressive wheel and tire combo, which the STI just does not do.
4g63 is probably the best 4 cylinder block ever as far as i'm concerned... MIVEC is a plus
4b11 seems to be proving itself quite well since its been out. As there are a ton of cars on here with a good amount of mods still running stock blocks and high 20's PSI
Evo's are much more mod friendly. 400whp = minor bolt ons on evo and meth... 400whp = 30r + ALL SUPPORTING MODS on an STI.
um... THE SEATS!
and lets face it. The evo will out handle the sti any day. I've driven quite a few evo 8's and 9's and they will out handle the sti all day long.
The only REAL plus side to the STI, besides the transmission, is the displacement. But once you take into account that the evo has a bigger factory turbo and twinscroll, even the displacement benefit of the STI doesn't seem all too important.

I switched from Subaru to the Evo for the fact that Subaru's boxer engine is a PITA to work on. I like being able to change spark plugs in 10 minutes vs and hour. I like the handling more on the Evo, the steering is dead on, their isn't any play what so ever in the Evo compared to the Subaru. The only thing I miss about my Subaru is that glorious subie rumble coming from the exhaust.
