How much boost do you run just around town?
I am kinda curious about what some other people run around town... when i was buying my evo i was debating between an 05' White evo 8 with 32k miles. It had a mbc and intake and i thought that a mbc might be nice so i could run less boost around town, but it made me think why they put the mbc on there and how much it was running.
The other car was an 06' Graphite Grey IX with 36k miles for $250 more and it had the SE package and it had intake and tbe... i ended up getting the IX cuase i like the way the seats and exterior look compared to the VIII. just a personal preference now after 1 1/2 years i have had it tuned at 21 peak and 19 hold... i currently on run 11-15 lbs around town 11 at low rpm's and 15 max at redline.
I was just wondering what some people run, or if they think it is pointless to lower it, and if so why is it pointless, less boost = less power which = less stress!

?? that doesnt make any sense... thats bad to run around 11-15psi.. ur ecu is programed to be at a certain a/f mixture.. right now ur running super rich at wot=bad .. im at 35psi.. around town technially.. if u dont beat on the car u wont hit boost.. i daily drive mine without boost but i know if a race comes along i know im still at 35 when i mash on it

The ECU is smart enough to know that there is not 21 lbs in the intake becuase it has a mas air flow sensor it made so that it puts the right a/f ratio inside the engine. when someone tunes it you change air/fuel so at that rpm it has that mixture so depending on how much air there is the mass air flow tells it how much fuel to put in and it accomidates for that besides i dont hardly ever get on it anyways and my a/r ratio's are the same as they are when i am at 21 lbs. I am a newbie and any expert should know that!

It does not run rich or anything, that is why they put maf sensors on the cars
i only run that much cause i am literally the fastest car in town and its fun to mess with ricer civics and they think that its not that fast so they tell there freinds to race you and you absolutely leave them in the dust (on the track by the way)

Kaboom? What the hell? There are many stock cars who run 30-35 lbs of boost safely. You have to be tuned for it, be running race gas or E-85, headstuds are some nice insurance, and a wideband to keep an eye on things. Unless you absolutely beat the **** out of the car and run full WOT all the time, then you will have problems. I am the same as yahu, I run 30-31psi peak, it is pretty efficient and holds to 27-28ish, but barely ever run that at cruise.
I understand you want to keep the car in working order and not abuse it. This is what the car was made for, not necessarily the 30psi, but it came from the factory set for the low 20's. Mitsubishi believed it could hold this number reliably regardless of the driving conditions, so why lower it?
Up to you, but it sounds to me like you are being over cautious.
