evo ix mr tranny
hi guys... imma nooby who loves EVO's =] but ummm im trying to decide whether to buy a GSR or a MR... ive heard alot of rumors about the 6 speed tranny... about it being weak and not lasting long... i just wanna know how long it lasts compared to the 5 speed... and which is a better one for DD... thanks guys.

Most will say it depends on your power goals. If you plan to stay stock, the 6spd will be just as good as the 6spd. Even if you want to run a little more horsepower, the 6spd will still be ok. I assume if you want this to be a DD, you will not be going overkill on the power.

if it weren't for my car being abused by the original owner, my 6 speed would be perfect. it grinds into 4th during fast-redline shifts, otherwise, it's smoother, quieter, and better geared for a daily driver, compared to the 5 speed.
I've owned a gsr and an MR, so I'm not biased.. I absolutely love this transmission.

thanks guys... =] yeah... im planning on modding to 400 at tops... maybe..? lol... well for now thats the plan haha... x] so it seems everyone is on the six speed side lol... and yea... im planning on using it as my dd car... and can someone tell me why the EPA shows that the 5 speed gets better gas mileage than the 6 speed...? especially on highways... i thought the lower the rpm the more gas u save? appreciate the help guys! ^.^

ohh yea guys... urmm... how long does the 6 speed tranny usually last...? does it get crappy by the time you get to 60k miles on it? thanks for the help guys... i really appreciate it! =]

This answer your question? This guy hit 150k on his stock tranny.
You'll never get an exact answer for questions like that. Many things come into play; IE: How you drive; Mods on your car; How much you drive etc...
