i'm sure this was already discussed, but most likely not in very detailed manner.

now that the 04 ralliart lancers are out (i saw one driving around the other day), do you think we can swap in the mivec engine into our 02/03 lancers? judging from the pics, it seems the engine bay is very similar is size and components.

i hope we engine swap like the hondas soon. i can sure use the extra kick.

i shotgun the first crashed 04 ralliart lancer for parts!!

this local shop was going to put in the evo8 engine into their project car lancer. that was like 2 months ago, i wonder if it's done. they said the engine was like 5grand (CDN) and the mods to be made under the hood was about 5grand(CDN) too...

i mean if the evo8 engine might, shouldn't the ralliart one fit too?

 

the ralliart should be a much much much easier swap. it is in the same direction, and has similar hookups. I will check the transmission to see which tranny hooks up so that you would only need to swap the engine not both.

from what i have seen/ read it should be a reasonable swap... the only pain in the *** will be the engine demobilizer thing. Should just be a matter of getting a dealership to cut you a key and change the code in the demobilizer if i'm not mistaken. anywho, i can't wait to see some hard facts about the swap.

 

hmm.. im pretty sure you would also need the tranny and the ecu from the ralliart lancer.. the ralliart engine has MIVEC.. our OZ's dont have MIVEC.

 

Tranny yes, ECU yes. Two entirely different motors. Way to many of these threads.
