Iv recently sold my s2000 and want to buy an evo. Only problem is i search and search and they all have a crazy amount of miles. Im willing to spend between 16 and 21000 but every one i find is heavily modded or over 80k still for about 20000. any suggestions? how bad is it to buy one with so many miles? iv read all the forums and searched alot but all im asking are how bad is it to have so many miles on the car and how many miles should be a good amount for how much i would like to spend.? thank you.

Find a friend and make a road trip for it. Thats what i had to do. drove 550 miles to and from the location of my dream car. You will be willing to make the trip if you love the car that much.

I'm in the same boat I've been told with out of town purchases is to just maybe make friends on a local forum there so they can tell you how it was owned. There is always that risk of the car being sour when you get out there, guess it's a just risk you have to take.

 

Ask for pictures and the vin before hand, get the carfax before you make the trip. Have a friend in a local club or on the boards here to take a look at it if it is at a dealership. Drive out with a friend and inspect it yourself. Be efficient before you make the drive, though, or else you might be sorry later on...

 

i just bought mine almost a week ago. me and my dad drove 800 miles to pick it up and it was worth it. 2003 with only 52,000 miles on it

 

+1 to this but you have to keep in mind expect there to be some minor problems with any evo you buy unless you get it from owner that is known. It is what it is. Remember you can work with getting price dropped for issues you have to fix im just saying most evos now have been modded point blank it just finding the one that is together and fine not with issues the owner does not want to fix so they are trying to sell it. make sure you have a spare 2000 saved when you buy the evo to check things out or if something is wrong.

 

ive seen plenty of clean evos for sale in other areas, at one point i was going to make a trip to boston and get one but a mint one popped up near my house and jumped on it, keep looking

 

There are plenty to be found for sure. I found my 1owner 04 SSL, 51000 miles on here. Just keeping looking, be patient and she will come to you!

 

I drove 350 miles north ten days ago and bought my 2006 MR with only 10k miles from the original owner and could not be happier. If you want the right car then you should be willing to travel more than 5 minutes to see a car. Funny thing is I also sold my S2000 to buy the Evo. I think it's a trend.

 

Agreed. I'm in the same boat, though I'm still trying to sell my S2k and get back into an Evo. Im fine with making a trip down to Cali for one if that's what I gotta do to get a good deal.

I drove to California and bought my car new...but it was well worth it!! If your buyin an EVO trust me you'll enjoy the trip too!

seems like it is a trend to go from an s2k to an evo.. but i still kept mine.. allows me to appreciate the S2 that much more. i think id regret selling it...
on the other hand be patient and keep looking,,. the car you want will pop up! Good Luck Bro!

 

Believe me if I could have afforded both I would have kept my S2K. No other car has the rough and raw ride of the S2K that I loved so much.
