New guy looking for an evo. what to look for and avoid.
Hey there everyone.
Im looking to buy an evo sometime in the next few months or so but to be completely honest, I don't know crap about these cars. I am looking for a 20,000-40,000 mile evo. Im not sure what my price range is yet. I first want to know if there are certain years i want to avoid and if there is a certain year i want to look for. I know i'll be looking in the 04-06 range probably. I know the 06 has the one year only engine. is that something i want to avoid? My plan for the car is to use it as a DD here in Michigan, along with a once a month track day at the local road course during the summer months. I think im just going to leave it stock for a few months then just do some bolt ons. maybe long term goals of having like 400 wheel horse at the most.
I am also wondering how these car hold to mods. at what level do i need to worry about the tranny and transfer case?
Thanks ahead of time for help answering my questions. I look forward to learning a lot and purchasing my future Evo

I am wondering where the common problems are. are there certain years that have stronger or weaker parts than others? all that thread basicly tells me is what options were available for each year. i dont care about that so much.
