I painted first and they screwed it up when mounting tires, so I had to touch it up again.
I'm pretty happy with how they turned out though.

Unless you are really good with spray paint...I wouldn't recommend you spray paint your rims. I've seen a friend spray hsi rims, and it came out really bad.

so i should prolly just wait till i get my new tires on then paint the rims?

I was gunna pull the tires off then hit them all with aircraft stripper, sand them then paint them bbq black with that wheel clear paint on top.

so i should pull the tires and get powder coat then install new tires. Sounds expensive, spray paint does seem more for a hoop-d than my evo though.

Bought paint from advanceauto.I think mine look great and I would say that i'm a terrible painter.Do not buy the duplicolor clear for rims,It comes out cloudy.

just spray them. powder coating is great but its pricey...painting them without tires is easy because you do not have to worry about masking it. I sprayed mine with a gold sparkle and they have held up great through 3 winters in north jersey. I always go about 5 coats of color and 3 of clear. if you have to mask them out use some cheap playing cards and shove them between the lip and the tire. good luck

You could Do that but when they put the spoons on to mount the tire you will still probably need to touch it up. Mine where chipped when installing the tires. Had to retouch a little bit.

it would be very tough to have tires mounted with out chipping the paint a little.

Yes you can just take your time prepping the rim and use 3 or 4 light coats and let the paint dry good in between coats you can let the air out of the tire to paint the edge.
