Newbie - Actually about 5 hours ago
Hi All
I just picked my EVO a few hours ago. I sold my 1998 DSM and miss it a lot but the EVO is insane and I love it. I can't wait to get her broke in and really seeing what she can do. Any advice for a new guy?
Cheers

I can't make it down this coming weekend a but I will keep looking back for another event and definitely make the trip.
I went out with my DSM crew last night and I have never had so many people looking at my car and little civics wanting to race. Guess that I better get use to that.
Cheers!

I know I will get alot of angry people mad at me by saying this: Don't break it in Hard. If Works don't even break their cars in "hard" why should you, and they are tuners. I know you probably read the..."motoman" procedure about driving it hard in the beginning to sit the rings etc. If you think about it...he talks about the engine. His procedure can only work if you have an engine dyno. Again think about it. If you are going to drive your brand new Evo hard to break in the motor.....what will that procedure do to the rest of the car: clutch, tranny, transfercase, rear diff.? It doesn't take a genius to see what will happen. Also since your new to the sight check around and you will notice how many problems you will find about the EVO's clutch, tranny, weird noises etc. Again guys don't get mad at me for saying these things. This is just my view on break ins. It is always up to the individual to decide what he/she will do. Knock on wood but my EVO is running great with no weird noises (except when I fart in the car. Maybe that's why I don't have that new car smell anymore. LoL) and I have 8589 miles on it. I broke it in by using conventional oil for the first 1200 miles and full synthetic after that.

Thanks for the advice......I'm sticking to nothing above 5k and 70 mph......not saying it wont ever slip past that but the first 1000 im taking it easy. This is my first true performance car and I don't want headaches with brand new car......sh$t, I already owned a DSM for 2 years.
