try just plugs first. start cheapest and work your way one step at a time...

my friend just had this same problem with his car, he replaced the plugs and nothing. turned out to be the coils, I would work my way up to them one piece at a time. Or you could do a spark tech non-cdi and make sure that you never have ignition issues again

Im at stock boost and the plugs are gapped to .28! Darn ignition coils are expensive but I can't see anything else it could be....

Sorry to hear your problem... I feel you man as my evo did the same thing. I have an 05 Evo 8 with right around 70,000 miles. I was running right around 30psi with E-85 on the stock 16g. I never had the problem while running lower boost" 22 psi and under".... for some reason what would happend was while like doing a 3rd gear pull right under max load or maybe a little higher it would start to sputter and would lose all power and a little higher rpm's and it would go away and regain all its power. I really didnt notice this until going to more boost as it seemed to do it worse under more boost. However, I noticed that If I went to the track or would go from a dead stop for example...Launch and go through all the gears without stopping it will never cut out. Also if I roll into the throttle and dont give it time to be under max load for much time it wont cutout. End result I went to an FP red here recently and was doing a flash tune and I dont know if it was the misfire that caused it or what exactly it was but all I know is that it leaned way out right around the misfire error "max load" and knocked some high counts and through a rod right through the block. I know what it sounds like. It sounds like this is knock...well its not because remember as I said it even misfired before when it wasn't knocking at all. I logged every pull "including the kaboom log" lol. Also it would do it while logging for my tuner and everything looked perfect on his side. I'm now doing a 2.1 build and couldn't be happier because It would have blown eventually anyway and now I'm going to replace the coils because I think that might be what it is. I always ran bpr8es and .022-.028 gap "Tried Everything" and the problem never went away. It would be awesome if anyone who has had this problem knew a fix. Ignition? Fuel? Coils? Spark? gotta be a simple fix.......
