Prolems finding a better rate for Insurance

I currently have farmer's insurance and they are charging me 170/month for full coverage. I havent had any tickets or anything negative on my record in the last 9 years. I also have my wife's name on there so I know that's the main reason why it's so high (she's had 2 tickets on the last 9 months). So call around for quotes and I've been turned down by 2 companies already because I drive an Evo. Geico and The General turned me down because they think Evo driver's street race all the time!! WTF!! I've never experience this before. So I'm asking you guys if you've ever experienced this in different states?

I have USAA but I am switching to Progressive when I get back to the States as it's cheaper and they insure aftermarket parts.

That's another issue I'm having now. I mentioned to Geico that I have aftermarket parts and they flagged my car and my name! And they refuse to give me coverage on the car

Has anyone else experience being turned down because we own Evos? Another rep told me that we evo owners are dangerous and street race all the time. I'm kind of shocked

I have Esurance and they are very reasonable. I pay about 170 a month for a 2006 Evo IX and a 2001 Honda Prelude, full coverage. They were also very quick in getting me taken care of when I was hit by someone while driving the Prelude.

Ok thanks for all the advice, but has anyone else had problems getting insurance because they're driving an evo?

I found out from a local Evo driver that Geico and The General are the same company. So that's where the red-flagging came about. I initially got a quote from Progressive for 170 a month. But when I inputted my wife and I's DL number, the quote shot up to 440/month. Wifey's violations got me!!

Can't you and your wife just have separate insurance policies? How bad could hers be if your name wasn't on it?

I also have e-surance, moved over from Farmers when I bought the car. Farmers isn't kind on rates for Evos. I was told by one carrier that they simply will not insure the Evo, no matter who drove it. So yes, there are insurance difficulties.

I pay less than $160/mth for three vehicles, full coverage; 99 superduty 4x4 crew cab, 97 avalon and the Evo GSR. Esurance has been good to me on both claims (no fault) that I've had this year.

(I'm wracking my brain to remember who told me "No Evos". It might have been allstate -- or was it allsheimers?)
