I have had my stock tail lights on my EVO VII for years. I finally changed them out for clear ones and to my surprise, I was hated on about it. I caught so much flak over it that I just replaced my red tail lights to ease relations with other EVO owners... including my wife (who has an EVO VIII)!!!

So, tell me forum... why do EVO owners love the red lights so much?

 

Euro style tales were a fad and are tacky by most opinions.

It doesn't surprise me you catching flack.

To some people it is like you took a huge step backwards.

Most are trying to pull the Evo's reputation out of ricerdom. Your actions could be viewed as the reverse.

I don't care either way it is your car.

I see your point. After having those other lights on my car for a few weeks, I noticed that my car does look better with the stock lights. I guess some things were meant to be customized... while other things are better left alone.

 

The stock Euro style, to me, looks very ricey but to each his own.

Personally, I think the VII tails are OK. Only thing that I don't like about them is the red lines on the blinkers. It just ruins it for me. I decided to paint my own tails and leave the blinkers white. Now, it looks like regular Lancer tails which is my kind of taste.

 

Yea I have the clear lens and they are chrome inside and want them black housing.

 

an even better question is why do you care what people think of what you do to YOUR car?

 

Definitely red taillights look better. Much cleaner, neutral look.

 

I think evo backside looks straight sexy, regardless of euros, evo 7s, or MR tails.

Let me ask the question again...

Why do you love the EVO VII red tail lights...?

That is what I asked. If you don't like them, then your comment doesn't belong here. I mean no disrespect to you who posted here. I welcome all opinions... however, I would like for you to make them on the topic at hand.

My curiousity spawned after looking at several dozen posts of people who paint their lights red, or tint them red, or even posts of people trying to buy the stock red lights... so that is why I asked this question.

(To satisfy YOUR curiousity on why I care what people think about my car... there is no answer. I thought that I wanted to change my tail lights. The main problem came in the fact that the EVO VII only comes with ONE reverse light. When I did change the lights to the clear lense, I had police tell me that one of my reverse lights are out... when, in fact, I only have ONE to begin with. The red tail lights went back on for that reason in combination with public opinion. I didn't realize how much better it looked until I noticed that others tried desperately to get what I already had. I guess I thought "the grass is greener on the other side" when I placed the clear lenses on the EVO... but now, I am curious on WHY people want the red lights so much. Is that too much to ask?)

 

I don't think it's a matter of "loving" the JDM 7 tails but rather hating the look of altezza taillights... but in the end it comes down to personal preference. I bought my car with VII tails on it but I prefer the JDM IX look so I decided to switch.
