Buy an EVO!
I own a '01 SK2 and autocross it every weekend 9 months out of the year. Last fall I saw the light and decided to buy a '06 IX. When the weather is bad it has a advantage, plus you can't beat the low end torque. The S2K is 4-sale.
Of course, I am cheating alittle 'cause I have a SVT Raptor with the 6.2 engine. Ya gotta love power to all wheels!!

My take?

You need a truck man. It sounds like you're going to be going off-road, roads that aren't going to be car friendly.

I own a 01 f150 supercab 4x4 and an Evo X. Together they work great. I race MX and do downhill mountain biking. I wouldn't dare attempt to go to the places I go for MTB that I can go with my truck. A car can only do so much.

i've owned:

97 eclipse gst fully built 1g with big16g
01 supercharged acura integra loved it
03 g35 sex
06 evo ix gsr

as you can see all 2 doors and practically 2 seaters. much better when I was younger and did not need the room and didn't see as much snow. I came back from the navy with the 03 g35 and had so many problems with the rwd and snow (NJ) it sounds like you have it worse. The evo has been freaking awesome and I keep up with the maintenance so I have had NO major issues. I personally love the 4 doors and the looks are always a plus. I have had guys in ferarris, lambos, corvettes, GTRs give me the thumps up cause they know that though I am not in a supercar they know what an evo is.

LOL you sound exactly like me. I had a 2002 sebring silver AP1. I recently sold it and bought a 08 GSR. I do a lot of snowboarding, MTB and other sports... so the S was just too small. The evo is nice and roomy, I can pack in a lot of stuff in it. It's exciting to drive.... but nothing like the S... the steering and grip feels the same but the turbo motor has taken me awhile to get used to. It has a more refined feel and isn't a "WILD" as the F20 in VTEC (note: the S and the EVO are both stock motorwise). I find the car good in the snow and it's much better as a year around car.

PS are you on S2KI? I was in the alberta forums a few times selling parts. I had the same user name.

I own both and tell you what... I love the Evo the turbo sensation is great... the ability to self tune is a big plus too. That being said calling the Evo "Raw" in comparison to the s2000 is just wrong. Different car.. different feeling both good in their own way.

i just came over from the 350z world and i love the extra space. I too snowboard when ever i get a chance.

i came to arizona from germany and the altitude absolutely killed the Z.

I HAVE A BACK SEAT NOW! and i can take my car to the store and fit stuff in the rear.

I have a Tacoma and an Evo. Based on what I've read on your post... I would get the Tacoma. It's much more practical than the Evo and S2K.

I really enjoy my Toyota X-runner. Its sporty, looks good, fun to drive, and still functions as a truck. Oh and both extra cab doors open up and its got decent room.
