that is so true man, a car like an evo is dangerous bone stock. i probably won't tune mine too severe anyways. i'm getting one built but the guy has started asking if i wanted to mod it before he was done. i'm getting mine cause they're great on dirt and snow.

u want my advice on how much horsepower is too much for a DD, go take yourself a driving class with your car and learn how it drives reacts in braking turning, accelerating etc...that way when your beast is finally 400hp or more( which is most peoples goals on here) we wont hear about ya on the news about a ricer crashing hahah im kidding but seriously to some stock hp is more then enough, me personally im jockin 385, 400 on a cold night, plenty of power but u gotta know when to pull ur right foot out of it and say enough

Its torque not horsepower. Thrust (torque) overwhelms the tires and its all over. On big sticky tires you can put down around 280 ft lbs per axle and maintain traction still. My 265 street tires seem to like to spin past 500 total (250 per axle).

That being said I run around 700-710 most days and it works very well for me.

It depend on how crappy of a driver you are... if you live in NJ, like I do, a pedal bike seems like too much hp for half of the clowns on the road.

I say 500hp is cool for the street. Use you brain and don't floor it like an idiot at every stop light. leave that for the track.

Small turbo's are annoying for DD duties. A big, laggy turbo is actually better for DD driving due late response.

An Evo even in stock form has plenty of power to get in trouble with. I highly recommend taking some high performance driving classes and learning how the car reacts in various situations. As others have said with regards to hp, it's more about the driver than the car.
