OP answer: some dealerships may be stifflers, some may not be. feel your dealer out if you want to deal with them.
my story: i got my free first $60 oil change few weeks back and i just emailed the service manager before my appointment to find out who was most interested to work on "high performance cars" like the evo and baby turbo ralliarts. basically asked him who was gonna be young enough to be interested in modding the car and whatnot. he hooked me up and let me know who would do it and when i went in for the oil change we chatted for titty bit after, and he told me that before getting actual parts for mods, that he thinks reflashing the ecu is the first thing that he would do. i asked him about the leaky bov, springs, wheels, basically everything i want to do to my lease..... and he told me that reflashing is what he would do first, then move that direction. (i have my own agenda but thats besides the thread topic) basically i could put a cobb in and probably wouldnt even have to uninstall it before i went to the dealer for whatever reason...

not necessarily. they may check your ecu to see if it has the latest update or whatever. that's "warranty work" that mitsu would pay the service dept for doing. sure you didnt ask for it, but that doesnt mean they wont check... just sayin...

most technicians wont know how to check if you are flashed. most of them have a tough enough time following the instructions in the shop manual on how to reprogram a tpms sensor or how to reprogram the weight sensors in our passenger seat (had to have both done at a dealership and for the seat the technician failed on his first attempt, had to bring instructions from my personal copy of the shop manual to show him how to do it...)
unless you go in with some sever idleing or boost issues that are causing all sorts of headaches
they wont bother to search too deep.
if your worried just flash back to stock.

Thats not a bad price. I dont much about this brand, but the reason I havent gone with displays (yet) is the cost. Sure the units are $500-700 typically, but the accessories for WB, Boost, etc are where they get you. They tell you it can display everything you want, but leave off the part where its another $800-1000 to get all of them connected.
