Need Help with Codes P0234 and P1400
Not sure if this is the right section but if not, mods can you please move it to the correct section then, thanks?
So I recently purchased a 2003 Mitsubishi Evo GSR and I'm in love with it. I got a steal of a deal and she only had 46,000 miles on her. I already started to mod the car, and I'm having some issues with codes. Currently I'm throwing a P0234 and P1400.
Current Mods (Installed) :
Evo 9 MR BOV
3" Vibrant custom turbo back exhaust
Perrin Intake system
Mods to install :
Invidia turbo headers, I think that's what they are called
Tein S tech springs
Manual Boost Controller (Installing Tomorrow)
Turbo Timer
Boost Gauge with pod (Installing Tomorrow)
I think the P0234 (Engine Overboost) is due to the turbo back being installed. I think I'm over boosting because of the less resistance in the exhaust system. I spoke to a few locals and they think that is the issue.
When I go WOT in the car, in 3rd or 4th gears it feels like the fuel cuts out. This happens from time to time, but not always.
Do you think that when I install the MBC and Boost Gauge, it will help me with controlling the boost and will allow me to not go overboard in boost. How bad is it to over boost your car? I'm not sure what the current boost level is, but I'm getting the gauge to help read the level. Or do you think it's another issue?
The P1400 is another story and I'm thinking about just purchasing the Mitsubishi part number MD305600 from this post.

Will this fix my P1400 code then? My mechanic thinks if he cleans the area around it, it might help?
Thanks for the help guys and gals.

Let me know what you do. I'm also getting the P1400 code. I've got similar mods to you, but a 4" custom Vibrant exhaust, Perrin intake and a Evo 8 MR BOV when mine is a GSR. Did you get the new MAP and did it fix the P1400?
