8 RS if it's going to be at least a part-time track car. If it's going to be a strictly DD car then get a X.

i <3 my 9 RS because i am a driver at heart. on the track it seems like it's much easier to throw into turns and always has a lightweight sporty feel to it when driving all the time. I have driven the Evo X GSR and MR on the road and the track, I like them both, but def. a heavier car, and though they do allow for more room of error and are quite easy to run quick lap times in, I can't get over the comfortable ride and smoothness, it bugs me lmao. Evo 8 and 9's also have slightly cheaper parts and the motor is well known in and out, definitely tested with time in comparison to the X, though the X is coming along nicely.

however, after I drove a X MR that had lots of power mods with decent tires and brakes on track... <3 <3 I'm in love, and the smoothness and automatic would be nice for the city. One day I will buy one, I promise myself that along with another miata....with a turbo or rotary

good luck on your choice.

ps: if you go for a X, go all out and get the MR, that transmission is so nice on the track!

I say go with the Evo VIII RS. It is the lightest out of the group, and it can be customized however you want.

Voted GSR. I had a MR and loved everything about it except for the paddle shifting. It just wasn't for me as my brain kept getting overridden by the SST brain at slow traffic speeds. Traded it in for no frills GSR and couldn't be happier. I had the opportunity to buy a new Evo X RS back when I picked up the MR, but decided against it. I imagine the RS would be the most hardcore and raw to drive, but no AC or ABS would suck if you DD. I will never buy a car without AC!

We do not have an Evo X RS option here
