After research I found it was a much better vehicle in terms of reliability , strength and performance.
The fact that sti and wrx's are 'fully Sikh' with chromie wheels every where in Australia was also a turn off

Maybe I'm reading too much into the text, but I'm a bit confused as to the ultimate point of the thread. I mean, are you looking for justification for your own purchasing decision, or for something to tell your friends, like it matters, or what? You say you love your car, Evo/STi discussions aren't exactly uncommon - you can read them here for at least a day straight - so where are we going with this?

Haha, it's fun to see other people's reasons for choosing EVO over STI. For me, the EVO has been my dream car (besides the R34 Skyline) since I got into cars. My choice was reinforced once I learned how much effort needs to be put in to make 400+ hp on each car. Nuff said

Because I have already owned an STI and wanted something different. I like both cars, but the evo makes more power, is easier to work on, and IMO has a more comfortable ride. The stock STI suspension is horrid for daily driving unless you like bouncing up and down in your seat.

My wife owns an STi now so its the best of both worlds in the house. Husband vs Wife, Woman vs Man, Jamaican vs Filipina, USA vs Canada, Tall vs Short, Evo vs STi, LOL.
