Question Has anyone driven on the Nurburgring?

So im headed to Germany in a week or two. One of the first things im gonna want to do is drive on the Nurburgring.
I would love to rent a GTR but im sure thats expensive.
I might have to settle with a m3 or RS4. But has anybody rented a car and driven on the ring?
Where is the best place to rent a "performance car" and is there anything else i should know about the ring or driving in germany? I will be staying in Frankfurt

I know for a fact that i will be there and Im looking for serious answers only. please. thank you

At one time I was going to ship out my evo over there found a deal it was 6400.00 shipped there and back. rolling with US plates out there , when I drop some work on the R, I might ship it out there and hit the ring and drop a 224mph on the R

I don't believe anyone has ever driven on it, it's a running only track

^actually I believe part of it, or all of it is considered a toll road, and as long as it is not closed for testing, anyone can drive on it if they pay the toll.

I do believe it is toll road. But why drive on it when you can have a Pro drive you and you can have the time of your life and not worry about a rental car. http://www.nuerburgring.de/en/angebo...dschleife.html and its an Aston Woo Woo

I know for a fact that it is a toll road and that anyone can do a lap. I think it's like 20$ per lap, but cheaper if you buy mutiple laps. I also remember hearing that your insurance for standard rental cars is void if you take it on there and that they tend to get pissed at you if you do. I did hear that there are a few rental car places that specialize in renting cars specifically to take on the Nurburgring. That is probably your best option.

Public toll road, anyone can drive it in almost anything street legal.
