24, electrical engineer. Survived the downturn and company layoffs so far, been here for almost 3 years. Got an early start out of college.
I have a live-in girlfriend (who has her own job), 3 "kids" (dogs, cheaper than kids), and a mortgage.

Are your parents helping out or do summer jobs pay so well these days?
Please, no flames, I'm just curious as there was no way I could even afford a 20K car when I was 18-25!

I'm also one of the younger ones here, only at 20, still a junior at college now, studying Electrical Engineering (why the hell am I in EE? for anybody that's been through EE, what kinda jobs are you doing now? I hate circuits with a passion ). To be honest I can't say that I'm fully paying for the car out of my own pockets, but ah... how do you say, I'm "on loan" from the parents. My first year outta school on the job will probably be working to pay off this car.
Unlike most other kids in this rich Northern VA area (the town I'm from is ranked 7th richest in the nation by income, according to Forbes), I've driven a **** poor crappy I'll die on you any day '87 Volvo for the past 4-5 years, though I am grateful to even have had a car (the Volvo's completely dead now). I know people who would die to have a car to drive. It was rather frustrating to see those "cool" kids in high school driving BMW's and Benz's. In fact there were even two RX-7's and one NSX at our HIGH SCHOOL. Some girl crashed her brand new 2000 eclipse and her parents just bought her ANOTHER brand new one, 30 day tag 'an all. Isn't that wrong? I bet all of them ended up going to community college anyway... damn.
Regardless, I have no qualms about driving that Volvo for another couple years till I had enough money to buy the Evo myself, but it seems with it's recent death I'll have to borrow some money for the mean time... after all, I don't see the point in buying a used civic just to get around if I plan on buying a new car after I graduate, which is next year. Assuming of course, my EE degree can actually score me a job somewhere

21, graphics designer/webmaster at a Workers Comp TPA. I go to school full-time, work part time. I also have my own business where I fix computers/networking/web design. I only make 15K / year at the day job and bring in about the same with my own biz. They key here is savings.....down payment. I'm paying for 1/2 the evo with cash and the rest on loan.
