Talking Any 40 year old farts with an evo VIII ?

Hello all,

Tried searching on subject but...

Pretty sure I'm getting a 03 evo, just wondering how many (if any) 40yr + olds have one???
I was Hell bent on getting a 04 audi s4 but the leg room was very tight and the back seat was very cramped. Just drove an evo VIII and I'm in love, not to mention that I would have 20K left over to spend on mods if I wanted!

Talking

I am 47 and am looking at buying the evo. I have looked at the wrx,sti and found the back seat too small for any length of time. I also just came back from looking at the volkswagon gulf R32. The r32 looks very nice but is only a 2 door, and the back seat is small. A while ago we were looking at the s4 and found the back seat too small as well. My family is leaning to the Evo. I have driven it and I like it a lot. Hopefully we will get one soon.

Brother, listen to this. Ime 41, midlife thing going on and all. Wanted a boxter. Then kept reading all the Magazines. 25K less there was this car (evo)that basically killed the boxter all around. Went to buy one 10 times. Ime a hardcore dealer, finally found a dealer that would play. I was wearing cut-offs and all. I couldnt even get a test drive. They were giving me the "yea right" you want one. These are for kids. Well after a credit check, It was Mr. this and Mr. that. Drove it off the lot in less than 30 minutes. and NO test drive. On the way home there was a tire carcus in the road. I was doing 75 and swearved to miss it. WHOA!!!! That wheel is close ratio!!! After i got back onto the road, i slowed down for a bit. Got to town and took the wife for an ice cream. All the kids hang there and all. One kid says and i quote, "Holy ****, thet F...ing old man is driving an evo!!!" Ime like WTF???!!! This car has been a riot ever since. I dont think a Ferarri would get this much attention where i live. You know what?? 40 aint so bad after all!!!

Makes me feel better!

Thanks,
Its good to see others that are young at heart and have a brain. I'm in a position that I could afford what ever...( well with in limits) but the thought of spending 55K and up kills me. (and from my exp. its in the shop most of the time just fixing stupid annoying stuff )
I can get the same performance from a stock evo and have tons of money for mods and buy a off roader 4x4 beater to boot.

Ahh if only I new then what I new now. well going to pick up a 03 this afternoon!!! cant wait till its broken in and moded to start blowing m3s off the road!!!!

You've got that right!
The next logical step for me would have been the S4 or M3. But I hate the idea of spending that kind of money for something that will ultimately get paint chips, door dings, minor mechanical annoyances, etc. A BMW may be the best car, but Evo is the new Ultimate Driving Machine.

40 here. First person to say "mid-life crisis" is going to get grounded for the weekend.

Haven't made up my mind about the evo yet, but... Need a car that can handle a couple kids on the weekends and after school (crosses off the 'vette and the 360Z from list).. I already had a 540 (sweet car, but the cost of owning them is HUGE, especially once the warranty is up.

I like the G35, but, it costs more and doesn't have the same performance.

RX8? Gorgeous car. If only it came with an engine to match.

Acura makes nice cars, and... zzzzzz.. Sorry, nodded off there.

I hear good things about the Subaru, but... I just have a real thing for "sleeper" cars. The Subaru screams LOOK AT ME!!!, an evo without the wing, could almost pass as a conservative commuter car. Well.. almost. sort of. Maybe.

The wing is the only minus; in my neighborhood just driving anything other than an SUV or minivan makes them think you're some kind of rebel. :-)
